During the last five years of his life he maintained a romance with Paulette Simonin.

Fathered six children by four different women: daughter Jacqueline (b. 1922) with first wife Marie Louise Marthe Richard; daughter Daniele Clariond Tappou (b. 1936) with ex-mistress Renée Simonot; daughter Marie-Thérèse (b. 1938) and son François Aimé (b. 1942) with ex-mistress Jeanne Sully; son Bernard (b. 1938) and daughter Irène (b. 1944) with mistress-turned-second-wife Irène Morozov.

During the 'Occupation' of France, he claims to have belonged to the Resistance within the National Front.

He was never able to join the Conservatory : he failed the entrance examination three times.

Aimé Clariond was very marked by the First World War in which he took part. Mobilized in the infantry September 12 , 1914, he was promoted to corporal in December and even sergeant in May 1915. He was wounded by a bullet in the chest on May 15 , 1915in Neuville-Saint-Vaast . Returning to the front in the ranks of the 101st infantry regiment in December, he was taken prisoner of war on June 1 , 1916in front of the Fort de Vaux . Sergeant Clariond was interned in the Chemnitz camp from which he was repatriated in December 1918. Poured into a section of Clerks and administration workers , he was finally returned to civilian life on September 11 , 1919.
