Final Destination: Bloodlines Cast Share Their Most Irrational Fears (Exclusive)
Image
The Final Destination films pose one question: How could everything around someone go catastrophically wrong? With Bloodlines, the sixth installment in the hit Warner Bros. horror franchise, those fears will be renewed for audiences worldwide—but one can only imagine what the cast themselves feel daily, having lived in that mindset for so long.

Unlike other entries in the series, Final Destination: Bloodlines follows an entire family line marked for death after their grandmother successfully evaded death in the 1950s. Needless to say, Death isn't too happy about it.

The Direct's Russ Milheim sat down with the film's cast to discuss how their time on the movie influenced their interactions with the world and their deep-seated irrational fears. The list of cast we spoke with includes Brec Bassinger (Iris Campbell), Kaitlyn Santa Juana (Stefani Reyes), Teo Briones (Charlie Reyes), Rya Kihlstedt (Darlene Reyes), Richard Harmon (Erik Campbell), Owen Patrick Joyner...

Final Destination Bloodlines Clip Teases Legacy Character's Final Franchise Appearance
Image
A brand-new clip from Final Destination Bloodlines has finally dropped, featuring horror legend Tony Todd in his final appearance as William Bludworth. This comes less than a year after the Candyman actor passed away at the age of 69.

The video, shared by the IGN YouTube channel, provides Final Destination fans with a sneak peek of the meeting between mortician William Bludworth and the latest targets of Death's curse. Just like the previous installments, Bludworth gives them the set of rules they need to follow to survive Death's brutal traps. These include killing someone in order to steal the remaining years of their lives, or by dying in order to break the cycle.

Todd's character was first introduced in the 2000 Devon Sawa-led Final Destination, where he explained the strange phenomenon plaguing the survivors of a plane crash. Since then, Bludworth has been a staple throughout the franchise. Final Destination...

Preaching self-belief and confidence, Romy and Michele's High School Reunion is an incredible tale of being unapologetically true to yourself and embracing the weird and wonderful.

Romy and Michele’s Dream Sequence Exposes Rom-Com Happy Endings for the Nightmares They Are
Mira Sorvino
Let’s be clear: Romy and Michele’s Highschool Reunion is a modern masterpiece and is a brilliant feminist subversion of rom-com tropes from start to finish. Anyone who wants to hear why my favorite film is absolute perfection is welcome to pop round mine any time they like and we can stick it on.

One of the most fascinating elements, though, is the extended dream sequence which falls in the middle of the film as serves as a bit of surrealist comedy, a hinge point building up to the third act denouement of the reunion itself but also as a clever moment which hammers home the point of what this movie is, and crucially, what it is not.

To recap, Romy (Mira Sorvino) and Michele (Lisa Kudrow) are on their way to Sagebrush High and get into a fight, ostensibly over Post-its and who is the “Mary” and who...

Syncbak Launches Sbtv Platform to Stream Local TV Programming Nationwide
Syncbak, a streaming-tv provider that powers internet delivery of local TV programming in the U.S., is broadening its over-the-top horizons.

The company, whose backers include CBS and Gray Television, has introduced an expanded platform that lets broadcasters and content owners deliver local programming to viewers nationwide.

With its newly launched Sbtv platform, Syncbak says, local stations can build live over-the-top channels both in the markets they currently serve — and anywhere else in the U.S., if they have the content rights to do so. In addition, the company has created a syndication marketplace to let content owners syndicate and license their live and on-demand programming for Ott delivery through local television stations that participate on Sbtv.

The Sbtv platform encompasses Syncbak’s existing SimpleSync over-the-top platform for local TV stations. Any station in the U.S. can elect to be carried on the Sbtv app at no cost, according to the company.

Michael C. Hall in Dexter (2006)
'The Writers' Room': 'Dexter' writers share their favorite line from the series
Michael C. Hall in Dexter (2006)
The people who bring "Dexter" to life visit "The Writers' Room" on Monday (Aug. 12), and it appears they like their dialogue short and not so sweet.

In this clip from the Sundance Channel series (which is exclusive to Zap2it), host Jim Rash asks "Dexter" star Michael C. Hall and the show's writers and producers what their favorite line from the series is. Rather than some artfully written monologue, they agree on two lines, totaling just five words. One is "Surprise, motherf***er!," delivered by Doakes (Erik King) in the Season 7 finale that takes its title from the line.

The other comes from John Lithgow in the Season 4 episode "Hungry Man." An unbelievably tense Thanksgiving dinner is punctuated by Arthur (Lithgow) telling his wife (Julia Campbell) to shut up, followed by just about the worst thing you can call a woman. "Coming out of John Lithgow's mouth, that is such a shock,...

'Justified' - 'Outlaw': Raylan's terrible, horrible, no good, very bad week
"Justified" has run through a lot of story in the past couple of weeks, what with the search for Drew Thompson intensifying and seemingly everyone on both sides of the law taking an interest in the case. So when a major event in Tuesday's (Feb. 26) episode passed off-screen, it could have felt like the show was short-changing it.

(Spoilers for Tuesday's episode, "Outlaw," coming right now.)

But the way the show handled Arlo's death and Raylan's reaction to it felt about right, actually. The two Givens men have never had anything like a father-son relationship. For proof, look no further than Arlo's last words to his son: "Kiss my ass." For Raylan to mention his dad's death in passing to his co-workers, betraying no emotion about it to them, is entirely in keeping with his character.

So is his private moment at the elevator, when he drops his stoic bearing...

'Justified' Ep Graham Yost talks 'Truth and Consequences' in weekly postmortem
Spoiler Alert! In this week’s episode of Justified, “Truth and Consequences,” written by Benjamin Cavell and directed by Jon Avnet, Raylan’s underwear drawer got robbed and Boyd’s latest visit to Preacher Billy’s Last Chance Holiness Church came to a tragic end. As he’ll do throughout the season, showrunner Graham Yost takes us inside the writers room. (Read our recap here.)

Entertainment Weekly: So Lindsey (Jenn Lyon) admits to Raylan (Timothy Olyphant) that she used to get close to men to find out what they had to steal so Randall (Robert Barker) could take it, and he still trusted her.

'Justified': Ep Graham Yost and Nick Searcy discuss the Season 4 mystery
Before he started work on Season 4 of "Justified," executive producer Graham Yost heard a bunch of questions about who would be this season's Big Bad. So many, he says, that it prompted him to take the show in a different direction.

"Just the way they said that, in that kind of tired, we-know-what-to-expect way -- I thought, Ok, we're not going to do that this year," Yost said in a recent interview. "It was a conscious attempt to mix it up."

Rather than dealing with a new adversary this season, Raylan Givens (Timothy Olyphant) is delving into a 30-year-old case (inspired by the "Bluegrass Conspiracy" case in the mid-1980s) involving a fugitive, a bunch of missing drug money and quite possibly his own family. The case has also drawn Raylan's boss, Art (Nick Searcy), out into the field.

"He has sort of a personal connection to [the mystery]," Searcy says. "And,...

Winona Ryder and Christian Slater in Heathers (1988)
Back to school: Who's the cruelest mean girl of them all? -- Vote
Winona Ryder and Christian Slater in Heathers (1988)
Who could force you to eat all your lunches in the bathroom? Regina George? Darla Marks?

In honor of back-to-school season, PopWatch got to thinking about some of our favorite high school mean girls from the movies. The character is a mainstay in films depicting high school life, and if you’ve spent your teenage years inside an education building of any kind, chances are that at one point or another, you’ve felt personally victimized by Regina George — or at least your school’s equivalent.

Does Rachel McAdams’ star-making turn get your vote, or do you prefer Kim Walker in Heathers?...

Cinema de Gym: 'Opportunity Knocks'
Kurt here with a new Cinema de Gym, the first to focus on a movie I never knew existed before my cardio session. Is everyone familiar with Opportunity Knocks? It's a 1990 comedy noteworthy for being the breakout film for SNL alum Dana Carvey. With his straw-blonde hair styled into what I remember to be an almost-mullet, Carvey plays Eddie Farrell, a California con man whose slovenly style (oversized shirts, khakis with sneakers) is used to convey an enviably carefree outlook (as opposed to Steve Carrells's version of the same style in this week's Crazy, Stupid, Love., which is used to convey unenviable cluelessness). I entered the movie just as it was starting (another first), and got to see the unremarkable opening credits blip onto the screen as Carvey strutted down the street in his lazy dude's attire. There was no telling why he was carrying a potted plant.

Turns out...

What Is The Event?
You've seen the ads. And you may be wondering, so what is the Event? To investigate, a visitor has come to a wooded area of Calabasas, California (doubling for Atlanta), where four stars of NBC's twisty thriller have reunited at their characters' family home for the first time since they shot the pilot. It's an idyllic Thanksgiving flashback scene straight out of Norman Rockwell's sketchbook. Daughter Leila (Sarah Roemer) introduces her brainy boyfriend Sean (Parenthood (TV)'s Jason Ritter) to her seemingly loving parents, airline pilot Michael (Gilmore Girls (TV)' Scott Patterson) and homemaker Val (Dexter (TV)'s Julia Campbell). There's just one problem: Several years later, as we'll see in the premiere, one of them will be kidnapped, another will be suspected of hijacking, one will be plotting to kill the president and another will be dead. So much for giving thanks. "It's totally bizarre," says Ritter of what unfolds.

ABC Not Ordering Additional Eastwick Episodes
Instead of flat-out just saying they're canceling the series "Eastwick", ABC is beating about the bush with reports that they've "decided not to order additional episodes" beyond its initial 13. Seven of them have aired with the remaining six scheduled to be shown after a two-week break for some special programming on the network.

As the La Times put it: "Eastwick" has often [been] averaging less than 5 million viewers. The show, which stars Rebecca Romijn and Lindsey Price, is based on the John Updike book. While it spawned a moderately successful movie, this is the third time an attempt to make a TV series based on the book has fallen short.

Does anyone remember the other two? If not, it's no surprise since neither made it past the pilot stage. We did a little digging for old time's sake. The first was in 1992 and kept the full "The Witches of Eastwick" title.

Witches and nurses are headed for your television
There's (potentially) good news on the television front this week, as both NBC and ABC have announced that they've picked up two pilots with a significant amount of female characters.

NBC has acquired the pilot Mercy, described as "a drama with comedic elements that revolves around three nurses bound together in friendship by the highs and lows of their personal and professional lives."

I'm not a big fan of medical shows, but if being "bound together in friendship" is anything like hugging a woman with your legs in friendship, then I will definitely tune in.

The script was written by Liz Heldens (Friday Night Lights), who will also be the executive producer on the show. No news on casting or the premiere date yet.

Also, ABC has acquired Eastwick, "loosely" based on the 1987 film The Witches of Eastwick (based on the book by John Updike), which starred Jack Nicholson, Susan Sarandon,...
