We finally know what Hulk Hogan and Eric Bischoff have been putting over on X for a little while now. Ok, so we’ve known for a few weeks, but the plans are now public.

Hogan, a Mt. Rushmore professional wrestler (in terms of what he meant to the biz), and Bischoff, WCW’s greatest promoter, have joined forces 25 years after their great nWo run to launch Real American Freestyle, an “unscripted” freestyle-wrestling league. What that means in layman’s terms is this is not the WWE-style wrestling they’re known for — rather it is amateur-style wrestling, but with (real, American) money at stake.

It’s “a legitimate sports competition,” Bischoff told The Hollywood Reporter, “not a scripted sports competition or form of entertainment.”

The “integrity” of the grappling competition will be “impeccable,” Hogan said, though the league is also promising “high-impact moves designed to captivate modern audiences,” per the announcement.

His name is easy to guffaw at now, but there was a time when some of the most thrilling story developments of the Attitude Era were conceived from the mind of Vince Russo, for example, the critically acclaimed Deadly Games tournament at Survivor Series 1998, which crowned The Rock his first WWE Championship win). As Head Writer, Russo also contributed to the formation of D-Generation X, the Stone Cold Steve Austin vs. Mr. McMahon feud, and Mick Foley's push.

The American Society of Cinematographers has announced the honorees for its 38th Annual Awards for Outstanding Achievement in Cinematography Gala on March 3, 2024. They are: Don Burgess, ASC; Steven Fierberg, ASC and Amy Vincent, ASC.

Burgess, Robert Zemeckis’ longtime collaborator, will be recognized with the 2024 Lifetime Achievement Award. While his latest work is Aquaman and the Lost Kingdom, directed by James Wan, Burgess is best known for shooting Zemeckis’ Oscar-winning Forrest Gump, for which he earned ASC Award and Oscar nominations. The duo have also collaborated on such films as last year’s live-action Pinocchio, Flight, Contact, Cast Away, What Lies Beneath, The Polar Express and the upcoming Here.

There are over 80 wrestlers to unlock in WWE 2K23. Many are unique champions, all with their own move sets. Others are classic skins offering a new look to someone already on the roster.

With more wrestlers, there are additional options against various online and local opponents. The fun becomes exponential when directly playing WWE 2K23 with friends. Still, unlocking everything is its own reward for diehard WWE fans.

Wrestlers Unlocked Via Virtual Currency

Most wrestlers are unlocked by spending Virtual Currency (Vc). This in-game money is slowly gained by completing all sorts of match types in WWE 2K23. Each character costs 1,000 Vc, for a total of 59,000 Vc.

Deluxe Edition owners will instantly gain every one of these wrestlers by using the Supercharger optional item.

Visual Concepts and 2k Sports have released WWE2K23 into the world, and this edition doesn't change much from the previous versions - but it does add a lot more for players to do. The immediate comparison to last year's WWE 2K22 is obvious, and fans familiar with the mechanics will find nothing new in the gameplay arena.

With six major modes and over 160 WWE wrestlers to unlock and play with, there is plenty of variety in this version of the 2K franchise. Where WWE2K23 differs from its predecessor is in its bolstered and much-improved game modes. The Creation Suite is much larger, online multiplayer has been added to MyFACTION, plus MyRISE and MyGM have added a ton of new material, and Universe Mode offers even more options than before.

WWE 2K23 features quite a few improvements to the franchise formula that will certainly be welcomed by wrestling game fans everywhere. Of course, some things never change, which means that WWE 2K23 still makes you unlock quite a few wrestlers via gameplay accomplishments and by spending both real and virtual currency.

The very good news is that WWE 2K23 makes the various unlock processes fairly painless. The problem is that the game doesn’t always do a great job of telling you exactly how to unlock those wrestlers or the best way to go about acquiring all of them. Hopefully, we can help ease that part of the unlock system just a bit.

How to Unlock Every WWE 2K23 Wrestler With Virtual Currency

The vast majority of wrestlers in WWE 2K23 are unlocked via the game’s Virtual Currency (Vc) system. Every wrestler available via the in-game store costs 1,000 Vc to unlock.

But sometimes spoilers can come by accident. Your friend could let a spoiler slip without even thinking. Or you might unintentionally overhear a spoiler from a nearby conversation. And it's even possible that, as part of your job, you could be interviewing someone from a show that's adapted from a comic book. Then the actor wrongly assumes that everyone at the roundtable has read the latest issue, starts talking about your favorite character's death, and you get spoiled because you read the book in trades.

Similarly, if people wrongly assume that you've seen a TV show that's been out for 15 years, then that's another way that you could accidentally be spoiled.

Paul Orndorff, the WWE Hall of Famer who fought in the first-ever WrestleMania, died on Monday. He was 71.

His son, Travis Orndorff, revealed the news in an Instagram post. Last month, he said his father had Cte and was declining in health.

“It is with great sadness that I announce the passing of my father, Paul Parlette Orndorff Jr.,” Orndorff wrote. “He is better known as ‘Mr. #1derful’ Paul Orndorff. Most of you will remember him for his physique. Many will remember his intensity. But if I could only get you to understand and see his heart. He will always be Pop, Paw Paw, and Daddy at home. And as much as many of you hated him as a wrestler, he absolutely loved you for it. He was an amazing father that showed me more love than I ever deserved. I love you Daddy.”

But first up is Pillman, who clawed his way to infamy by playing an unpredictable and outrageous character dubbed “The Loose Cannon.” His unwavering commitment to a 24/7 performance put Pillman on a path to self-destruction that left his family in financial and emotional ruin.

The WWE inducted Ozzy Osbourne and William Shatner into its Wrestling Hall of Fame Tuesday, April 6th, with Osbourne sending in an acceptance video for a ceremony, which took place last week.

The former Black Sabbath singer made his debut at WrestleMania 2 in 1986, when he and Captain Lou Albano supported the British Bulldogs (Davey Boy Smith and Dynamite Kid) in a tag-team match against the Dream Team (Greg Valentine and Brutus Beefcake). William Shatner will be inducted into the WWE Hall of Fame next week as part of the Class of 2020. Because last year's ceremony was canceled, WWE will be simultaneously inducting two classes this year, recognizing different groups of talent for the Classes of 2020 and 2021. Various celebrities have been inducted through the Hall's "Celebrity Wing" in years past, and now Shatner will take his place among them with his official induction.

Shatner's induction into the WWE Hall of Fame is not as random as it might seem to those who weren't watching pro wrestling in early 1995. At the time, wrestling villain Jerry "The King" Lawler was hosting a televised segment called the "King's Court" when Shatner appeared as a special guest. After Lawler began taunting William Shatner, the Star Trek star ended up taking down "The King" with a wrestling maneuver in the ring.
