Her father, David Vaughan, was a psychedelic artist who had done work for The Beatles. Her mother is Mary Davidson.

Turned down a role of Elizabeth in Mary Shelleys Frankenstein (1994) for fear of typecasting - she'd already played a similar part in Bram Stokers Dracula (1992).

Former husband, Gary Kemp, is famous as guitarist and songwriter of the British band, Spandau Ballet.
