Vogel repeatedly took on lighter singing roles in operettas, such as the court opera singer Vogl in the operetta Das Dreimäderlhaus or August Färneböck (uncle of the tax official Eligius Färneböck) in the operetta Besuch am Abend by Willi Kollo.

He also appeared in several fairy tale films, for example as a knight in The Brave Little Tailor ( Das tapfere Schneiderlein) and as the master of ceremonies in The Singing, Tinkling Tree (Das singende, klingende Bäumchen 1957).

In addition to his work in the theater, he also worked intensively in film. From the 1930s onwards, he was one of the busiest serial actors. His appearances were often limited to individual scenes in which he was usually only seen briefly. He played journalists, clerks, small clerks, doormen, waiters and letter carriers, among others.

After 1958, he worked mainly in theater, film and television in the Federal Republic of Germany and remained active as an actor into old age.

As a character actor he amassed over a hundred credits during his career, some of them in minor parts.

Vogel completed private acting and singing training with Hans Beltz in Berlin from 1927 to 1934 (with interruptions).
