She was the granddaughter of Olga Tschechowa and also of actor Michael Chekhov. Some sources claim she is Jewish under the matrilineal descent system as her mother (Chekov's daughter) was patrilineally Jewish. Her great-granduncle was writer Anton Chekhov.
