British actress of the musical comedy stage, and a former beauty pageant winner. She made her film debut in 1927, followed by a steady career in the 30s and 40s. She died from a blood clot to her brain after a fall at her apartment, aged just 41.

At one time she was engaged to Count Anthony de Bohdari.

Unknown to anyone, one of her aunts sent a photograph of her to the Daily Mail for the Prettiest Schoolgirl competition without reading the small print which, in addition to winning a sum of money, involved her during the school holidays, to make an appearance in a play and present a rose to Zena Dare at the end of the first act. Both she and her family were horrified by this.

Married Sydney Calton a London businessman 10th January 1929, divorced 1936 and had a daughter Robin born 19th January 1934.

Between 1919 and 1922 attended Wentworth Hall School, Mill Hill, Finchley, London.

Lived at 2 South Terrace, (now 12 High Green) Gainford near Darlington then Norwood, Flora Avenue, Darlington.

Success in a beauty contest while at school led her to study for the stage when 18.

Died13/1/1946 at Wimbledon Hospital after a fall in her flat.

Studied under Rosina Filippi and made her debut in the chorus of "A-Z" at the Prince of Wales Theatre in February 1922.

Brother Robin, born 25 March 1909, died in the 1918 flu epidemic.
