John Scott is the founder and artistic director of The Hollywood Symphony Orchestra Society. The organization is dedicated to preserving and presenting works by contemporary composers of film and television music in a setting worthy of their creative gifts and talents. The Hollywood Symphony Orchestra Society honors an art form heard too rarely on the concert stage to its full dramatic effect. Concerts by the world-class Hollywood Symphony Orchestra present symphonic film music from composers of the silver screen's Golden Age to emerging talents, providing a glimpse into the history of film music and exposure to future classics by our greatest composers. Some concerts are performed with film or other multimedia format, and some include guest artists. All are about the exciting art form that is symphonic film music.

Wissenswertes
The soundtrack to the film Einer gegen das Imperium (1983), contains music by brothers Guido De Angelis, Maurizio De Angelis and, separately, John Scott. Although John Scott was hired to compose music for the US version, most of his music was replaced by additional music composed by Guido De Angelis and Maurizio De Angelis. Accordingly, the score was nominated for a Razzie Award, "Worst Musical Score." Regrettably, John's name remained as composer of the film. An Australian CD release features only John Scott's work.
