Along with Majel Barrett, Clint Howard, Jack Donner and Vince Deadrick Sr., he was one of only five actors to appear in both Raumschiff Enterprise (1966) and Star Trek: Enterprise (2001).

He studied drama at Carnegie Tech (now Carnegie-Mellon University, and began his acting career at the Pittsburgh Playhouse.
