- 1981 - Kimble was a founding member of the Hoodoo Gurus.
- 1984 - It was Kimble's flippant suggestion that led to the film clip for "My Girl" being based on a dog. The clip was about a once-champion greyhound and his despairing owner, and is now remembered as a classic Aussie clip.
- 1994 - He directed the music video clip for "You Open My Eyes", from the Hoodoo Gurus 6th album "Crank." It was the most expensive clip of the Gurus' career.

- 1979 - Kimble used to be in the band XL-Capris. The entire band starred in a short film in 1979.

He was voted Australia's top music video director in a poll conducted by Rolling Stone magazine.
