DeskPop Entertainment is excited to kick off their summer slate with the VOD release of Insane Like Me?, a twisted supernatural thriller where no one trusts what they think they see. Insane Like Me? is a Bankhead Productions feature from a script by Britt Bankhead. Bankhead stars and produces alongside Grace Patterson (Slotherhouse) as former lovers whose complicated past is nothing compared to what lies ahead when they reunite. The supporting cast is rounded out by Golden Globe winner and Academy Award nominee Eric Roberts, Samantha Reddy, Jack Maxwell, Paul Kolker and Meg Hobgood.

This week’s horror releases bring a killer shark onto Netflix and the feature debut of Ishana Night Shyamalan into theaters, and that’s only the beginning of the tidal wave of new horror.

The breakout Korean blockbuster Exhuma was released in theaters here in the United States back in March, and Well Go USA Entertainment brought it home to VOD this Tuesday.

Despite its title, Insane Like Me? is not about the qualifications for writing for website in 2024. It’s the story of Jake Morgan, played by Britt Bankhead (Call of the Wild) who also co-wrote the script with Chip Joslin. He’s a combat vet, recently returned to the US. He and his girlfriend Samantha are about to join her brother Will and his girlfriend Erica on a Halloween exploration of an allegedly haunted hotel.

Actually it’s a surprise party for Jake, that soon turns into a slaughter as vampires attack, killing the partygoers and Samantha goes missing in the confusion. Jake survives, which does not sit well with Samantha’s father, Sheriff Davis.

Adventurer Jack Maxwell adds a bit of bite to his whiskey on this week’s Booze Traveler — by drinking it out of a dead alligator. The intrepid host heads to Florida to scope out the drinking scene and is amazed at what he finds. After premiering two Booze Traveler: Best Bars specials in October, Travel Channel has given the green light to Brooze Traveler: Best Bars, the series. Since its launch in October, Verizon’s Go90 video service has turned heads by striking a number of exclusive content deals. It has unveiled series from Vice, Astronauts Wanted, New Form Digital, and several other notable production studios. Its latest partner is CollegeHumor, which has premiered a 52-episode series called Fatal Decision exclusively on Go90.

Fatal Decision comes from CollegeHumor’s Big Breakfast studio and relates to a previous series released on the CollegeHumor YouTube channel in 2008. In both versions, the hero is an office worker who bugs his coworkers by living out a double life as a secret agent. As evidenced by the first episode of the original series, Fatal Decision wears its action-comedy label loudly and proudly.

The manner in which Iowa native Tanna Frederick received her break as an actress has sort of become a independent filmmaking legend, but it bears repeating, as a lesson in the type of chutzpah required to get anywhere in the film business. After a few years of struggling in the audition trenches of Hollywood, Frederick was told by a fellow actor that filmmaker Henry Jaglom often responded to fan letters. Frederick proceeded to write a copious letter to Jaglom, praising the merits of his 1997 film Deja Vu…which she had never actually seen. Nonetheless, a correspondence between Frederick and Jaglom began, and eventually, Jaglom gave the actress permission to do a stage production of his 1971 film debut, A Safe Place, the cinematic version of which starred Jack Nicholson, Orson Welles, and Tuesday Weld.
