He played the scary man with the pipe wrench in the famous video for Take on Me (2005) by Norwegian pop legends a-ha.

He played Chief Inspector Japp in BBC Radio 4 adaptations of "The ABC Murders", "Death in the Clouds", "One, Two, Buckle My Shoe" and "The Mysterious Affair at Styles" from 2000 to 2005, reprising his on screen role from Agatha Christie's Poirot (1989). The radio version starred John Moffatt as Poirot.

Started acting while studying Drama and German at the University of Bristol, and has worked in the theatre in Leeds, Liverpool and London.

Has two children, George and Amy.
