United States Navy physician, Lt. Charles W. "Chick" Hennesey and Navy nurse Lt. Martha Hale are assigned to the hospital at the U.S. Naval Station in San Diego, California.
Dr. Chick Hennesey receives orders to travel by helicopter to a desolated area and treat a young girl who has appendicitis. Hennesey finds that his pilot is nearsighted and the helicopter is ready for the junk pile.

Hennessey discovers that Dr. Wagner entered his name in a contest and he has won a car. Everyone except Captain Shafer is delighted when the car turns out to be an early replica.
Navy doctor Chick Hennesey is assigned to special duty in the shore patrol station. The prospect of a routine assignment is removed when he learns the fleet has landed.
