Born in 1859, William Henry McCarty never knew his father. As a teenager, he followed his mother in a convoy of pioneers on their way west. Once in New Mexico, his mother died and the young man was left to fend for himself at the age of 15. He became a cowboy in Arizona and killed a man in self-defense. Convicted of murder, he escapes. From homicides to stories of cattle rustlers and bounty hunters, the whole mythology of the Wild West is embodied in Billy the Kid. Since King Vidor's "Billy the Kid" in 1930, the outlaw has fueled the imagination of some fifteen directors, the most memorable film being Sam Peckinpah's "Pat Garrett and Billy the Kid" in 1973.

This film follows painter Edgar Payne from his childhood in the Ozark Mountains, through his years in Chicago, and on to his discovery of the California landscape that became his lifelong inspiration. Produced in association with the Pasadena Museum of California Art, and created with the curators and scholars behind the touring exhibition of the same name.

Wyatt Earp has been portrayed in countless movies and television shows but these popular fictions belie the complexities and flaws of a man whose life is a lens on politics, justice and economic opportunity on the American frontier. He was a caricature of the Western lawman, and after his death in 1929, distressed Americans transformed him into a folk hero: a central figure in how the west was won, a man who took control of his own destiny.

This documentary is about the end of the Cassini-Huygens space-research mission commonly called 'Cassini'. This was a collaboration between NASA, the European Space Agency (ESA), and the Italian Space Agency (ASI) to send a space probe to study the planet Saturn and its system, including its rings and natural satellites. From its launch in October 1997 to nearly 20 years later in September 2017, the craft has nearly run out of fuel and reached the end of its original and extended missions. 'Horizon' (BBC) visits some of the main scientists working on the 'Cassini' program, and find out their roles and discoveries in this mission. Finally, they meet at a special farewell ceremony at the 'NASA - Jet Propulsion Laboratory' for Cassini's 'Grande Finale'.
