- A documentary about two different searches conducted in the Chilean Atacama Desert: one by astronomers looking for answers about the history of the cosmos, and one by women looking for the remains of loved ones killed by Pinochet's regime.
- 19751h 37mNot Rated8,1 (1747)The chronicle of the political tension in Chile in 1973 and of the violent counter revolution against the democratically elected government of Salvador Allende.
- Delving into the nearly-religious significance of water, this profound rumination on memory and loss bridges the gap between its mystical origins, Pinochet's coup d'état, and the secret of a mother-of-pearl button at the bottom of the sea.
- After decades of fascist rule in Chile, Patricio Guzman returns to his country to screen his documentary, Battle of Chile, which until the time of the filming was banned by authorities. His audience, a new generation of Chileans who remember little of the revolution and ensuing coup reflect on their experience of watching the film after so many years of suppression.
- Das Leben und Werk des chilenischen Präsidenten Salvador Allende von seiner Kindheit in Valparaíso bis zu seinem Tod während des Militärputsches unter Führung von Pinochet am 11. September 1973.
- This film investigates the factory worker's response to the insurrection, as well as Chile's socialist aspirations for the future. The camera captures the optimism in the industrial working class before Pinochet's US-backed coup d'état.
- 19761h 28mNot Rated8,2 (1388)Filmmaker Patricio Guzmán tracks the deterioration of Salvador Allende's position following the attempted coup d'état of 29 June 1973, and analyzes the 10 weeks before Augusto Pinochet's CIA-backed seizure of power.
- Clearly linked to Nostalgia for the light and plays like a short appendix or proof of concept for film. It's focused on a single researcher, a interview that didn't make it into the full documentary, but shows the same perspective of tying the search between the stars and the terrestrial bound work we do together. In this case it becomes a short portrait of Maria Teresa, but even here it feels like it could have been expanded upon a bit.
- True story of the saga that was hoped to be the long-awaited justice brought to bear upon Augusto Pinochet, Chilean dictator from 1973 to 1990. In September 1998, Pinochet flew to London on a pleasure trip but experienced back pain and underwent an operation in the London Clinic. Upon waking, he was arrested by Scotland Yard. Could it be that this was to become the first Latin American dictator to answer for crimes while serving as Head of State? After 500 days of house arrest, he nevertheless eventually returned unscathed to Chile, despite the compelling case built against him before and during this period by a young Spanish prosecutor, Carlos Castresana.
- In this documentary, Patricio Guzmán returns, once again, to the most recent historical past of his country, and does so by analyzing the amnesia of his fellow citizens regarding the Pinochet coup d'état. Journalists, historians, lawyers, psychologists and even a commander who participated in the coup deal with this oblivion and its consequences.
- A short documentary interviewing the renowned astronomer and astrophysicist.
- This overview of popular religiosity in Latin America journeys from pre-Colombian myths to liberation theology.
- Short documentary about Chilean amateur astronomers.
- We are given a view inside the telescope itself. Like so many of our most awesome feats of engineering it turns out it's a fickle and messy machine that is often held together by rubber bands and tape. The film looks at a man who seems happy to tinker with an appliance rather than use it, who opens the stars to others, and who is completely adorable.
