Right after his arrival to grandma's flat Pavel meets her friendly home carer Mikina (Iva Pazderková) who turns out to be one of a few people who get his jokes and is even willing to accept the games Pavel and his grandma love to play. Things do not go very smoothly right from the beginning of Pavel's Olomouc engagement. The head of the culture club Grunt (Miroslav Krobot) cares about his political score more than anything else, he considers culture a pain and does not understand Pavel's sense of humor at all. Pavel is also stalked by a jealous janitor Roman (Roman Vencl). On the other hand, Grunt's flirtatious secretary Renata (Jenovéfa Boková) displays way too much affection for Pavel. But he prefers company of Mikina who turns out to be his important ally. Rehearsals are under way and the opening night is near. But all the preparations hit a snag. There is something wrong with grandma. Just before the big opening Pavel realizes he will have to ease off his ambitions and direct the whole show in a completely different way.

But who was he in reality? Where did he seek inspiration and where did his rich inner world come from? How did he fight the non-free political regime and manage to show the world his free and timeless creation? Director Miroslav Janek gradually penetrates the interior of one of the most prominent personalities of Czech film and presents to the audience a miraculous world of animated paintings, graphics, oils, watercolors, frescoes and mosaics. On Christmas Eve in 2017, Jirí Brdecka would celebrate his 100th birthday.
