- A few years after her mother's passing, 17-year-old Tennie's reputation at school takes a major hit before the prom. To further complicate the daily rigors of teenage life, her father Robert, an advertising executive who has since rebuilt his business, tries to do the same with his relationship with his daughter. Against his therapist's advice, overeager Robert tries really hard to get close to Tennie by showing his own way of caring. He tries to find out about his daughter's personal life with help from his newly-appointed 19-year-old driver/intern Jack. Practically raised by her extended family, Tennie, although very academically-inclined and mature for her age, with compassion for others, has a touch of sarcasm and a hint of rebelliousness. After she catches on to her father's plan, she realizes that to get her father off of her back, she needs to convince him to find a lady friend. Unaware that her father is already seeing someone that he's not quite ready to introduce to her, she recruits her friends to create an online-dating profile to introduce her father to potential companions. Things escalate when Robert gets Tennie's friends from school to participate in a focus group for a project, and in retaliation, Tennie throws a party at the house and almost half the school shows up. A series of hilarious interactions between father and daughter ensues that starts to close the generational gap between them. What finally brings them together is a long-overdue heart-to-heart conversation about past transgressions. One thing becomes certain: they will always have each other.
- In this heartwarming comedy, Armen and Raffi, two filmmakers from Los Angeles, go to Armenia to shoot a feature-length movie about a third-generation Armenian-American who goes to Yerevan to adopt a 12-year-old. They team up with local impresario Rubo and begin the arduous task of casting parts, scouting locations, and securing the last leg of the funding. What seems to be a perfect plan becomes a perfect storm of absurd meetings, unexpected discoveries, and hilarious events, which comes together to sabotage the project. The Minister of Culture, the Chief of Police, the director of Hyefilm Studios, and the oligarch all offer to help, but they all have their conditions: changing the plot of the script, adapting it to another period, casting a relative for a part, and ultimately a proposal to turn the simple, touching story into a biopic of an oligarch. The chemistry among Rubo, Armen, and Raffi creates an amazing hilarity, and their journey to realize their dream brings them face-to-face with some colorful characters, fantastic situations, and beautiful backdrops.
