In search of inspiration, Des Esseintes steps outside the luxury of his extraordinarily decorated rooms and goes for a walk on Portman Square. He discovers a tramp played by Adrian Dunbar on the park bench. Des Esseintes decides to initiate the tramp into the high-life of the London Dandy. Taking him to exclusive restaurants and bars where the tramp, unaccustomed to the rich excess, gorges and purges. As time goes by, Des Esseintes takes his protégé to be shaved and fitted for a fine suit by one of London's most famous professional Dandies, Robin Dutt who plays the tailor. Des Esseintes observes his protégé now fully transformed into a London dandy as he revels in each new debauchery from luxuriating in a Turkish bath to lording about with courtesans in a high class brothel. The brothel madam is played by the well known Mayfair dandizette, and author Tyne O'Connell who instructs her courtesans to fulfill the tramp's every sexual desire. O'Connell and Des Esseintes reach an understanding which enables him to study his protégé's debauchery through a peep hole. The tramp by now has become accustomed to the high life and soon begins to expect it and even see it as his due time goes on. In observing the tramp's journey to fully fledged dandy the author begins to write again and loses interest in his creation. In one sense, the status quo has been restored. The writer is writing and the tramp is once more back on the park bench in the elements. Only now of course he knows what he is missing.

Five people who barely know each other, though they see each other every day. Mr Floss is bored but has just split up with his girlfriend and has nowhere to go. The recently-divorced Mrs Peters is frustrated that she never sees her daughter while she's awake, and someone seems to have stolen her favourite mug. Joyce is terrified of her boss, and can't seem to get her psychiatrist Dr Lexington on the phone. Dan keeps finding that all the chairs in the office are being stolen, and he's convinced that Ramon is the culprit. What none of them realise is that Dr Lexington has arranged for them all to be implanted with a new, experimental microchip, "Splinter", which allows their deepest thoughts to be accessed by a computer genius and displayed to the project's mysterious backers. From a secret location somewhere underground, the team witness as the Splinter shows not merely what the five human guinea-pigs see, but also their deepest subconscious thoughts.

In April 2002, writer-director Neil Oseman and writer-producer James Clarke set out to make an ambitious fantasy-adventure movie. Telling the story of an ordinary guy who is trained to be the new Grim Reaper, Soul Searcher requires martial arts, countless special effects and a climactic chase between a 1973 Ford Mustang and an express train to Hell. Despite the pair's optimism and over a year of development work, they are unable to raise financing for the project. Oseman decides to go ahead with the film on a shoestring budget, and although Clarke has reservations, he agrees. In October 2003 they begin a six week shoot, taking place almost entirely at night, with an unpaid cast and crew. They have just £7,000 in the bank. The shoot quickly becomes a nightmare with freezing temperatures, props that fall apart and a malfunctioning camera. But the problems are just beginning. Two weeks in, Clarke quits, leaving Oseman and his heroic Assistant Director Ed Reed to carry the project. The schedule overruns, exhausting cast and crew as they shoot from 5pm to 9am more than once.? As post-production arrives, the troubles continue. Reed drops out, the money is long gone and there are 250 FX shots to complete, not to mention that Oseman is dead-set on recording the score with a real orchestra. Can he complete what may just be the most ambitious movie ever made on a five figure budget?
