La Nuit Du Ramadan has become, for several years, an unmissable event on France 2, which gets in tune by mixing music, gastronomy and meetings.

Frédéric Mitterrand welcomes in his show Omar Sharif and Mouloud Mimoun about the Egyptian film Le marionnettiste (1989) by Hany Lasheen, for a conversation followed by part of the film with French subtitles.

"La Nuit de la Destinée", in reference to "Laylat al-Qadr" (translated as the Night of Power or determination), corresponding to the 27th day of Ramadan and which, according to the Koran, is worth more than a thousand month.

Instead of the usual picture of the war in Lebanon, the film shows what lies behind the scene. Behind the walls of a Beirut building is the daily life of women from different social and religious backgrounds, offering snippets of life.
