A poor girl from the South of Italy comes to Milan to escape an unfaithful fiancé and finds a job as a salesperson for a department store. She soon gets noticed by the boss.

The film is set in an Italian high school in the late 80s. It is the summer of 1989 and Luca and his mates are about to leave high school, as long as they pass the final exams.
