Boy meets girl. Matias meets Violeta, his cousin ("prima") one morning in Madrid at the Plaza de Opera. He is twenty-five. She is 18. He's a divorced journalist trying to write a thriller. She studies violin. She's a vegetarian. He loves meat. Many things separate them, but he moves into her apartment.

Rosa, separated and with two children, has to endure the jealousy of her ex-husband, and lives anguished because he continues trying to control her life. Through a friend she knows the world at night and in this environment she meets a young boy with whom she maintains an affair, but the persecution of her ex-husband makes her life impossible. One day she decides that this situation has to change, so she creates a very smart plan.

A Spaniard photographer (Antonio Resines) goes to New York in an attempt of selling his work. Despite his broken English and his shyness, he meet two editors that could be interested in publishing his pictures. However, his dreams of fame vanish when he realizes that his photographs are considered old-fashioned by the American publishers.

Without a job and still living with his parents, Manolo is a poor guy who one day is reunited with his old friend Mariano, writer of a highly successful crime novel in the United States. But Manolo then begins to suspect that the plot of the book could be an autobiographical story, which makes him want to investigate the matter.

For many years Rocabruno and Ditirambo signed their novels together, worked together and were in love with the same woman, but came a time when they separated. Ten years later, Ditirambo visits Rocabruno with the intention that they write together their last novel, "Epilogue".
