"Deutschland privat" is a special project by Robert van Ackeren, who in 1979 asked people to send him their 8mm home movies by placing ads in several magazines in Berlin, Germany. In the ads he announced that he was planning to blow up and mount the best of those movies into a feature documentary to be released in German cinemas. He was surprised how many home movies he received and how generously people allowed him to use them for his feature. Part 2 consists of what is now called "amateur porn"; home made 8mm movies featuring real porn action.

This heartbreaking TV movie focuses on the first generation of Turkish migrant workers coming to Germany in the 1960s. Melike and Mustafa grow up in a small village of Ürgüp, Nevsehir in the central part of Turkey. She dreams of marrying him until he and his friend Kadir decide to leave their home country to work in Germany. After two years, the young woman must marry the much-older Yasar although she does not love him. For financial reasons, Melike also emigrates to the "golden West" and starts working in a factory. She reunites with Mustafa, now working as a photograph artist, and revives their romance, but one day, Yasar is standing at her door.

Tomix, Tam-Tam and Mützen-Jacky are children of the street earning their living with music. They travel from one town to the other with their instruments to perform in the streets and in restaurants. At the beginning there is commotion, but as time goes by, the woman becomes part of village life. Her singing gets increasingly louder and she even sings in Kurdish. While the villagers start to show an interest in the stranger, the war draws closer and threatens to envelop them. The fat yellow haired woman abandons her folk dances and singing and develops into an alert observer of the situation as the region turns into a military zone. Due to the precarious circumstances, the villagers insist that their guest, whom they have grown very fond of, leave the village. For "Devil" Pascha and his friends, the time of growing up begins. They join the partisans.

Mr. Willi showed us the neighborhood he grew up in Cologne-Mülheim and Sybille Waury gave us some insights into her (harmonic) everyday work life.
