A truck driver traveling along the Transamazônica, the big highway in Brazil that crosses the Amazon rainforest, meets a teenage prostitute and gradually becomes aware of the problems in that region.

The documentary was shot at the Jari Project - a multinational enclave between the Brazilian state of Pará and what was then called the Federal Territory of Amapá - when a Parliamentary Inquiry Commission on the deforestation of the Amazon visited the place. Jari is the largest tract of land in the Amazon (and probably of the world) belonging to a single owner, American billionaire Daniel Keith Ludwig.

A parallel of the life and work of two Volkswagen workers, one in Brazil and the other in Germany, who perform identical functions in assembling the VW Beetle.
