- Mary is a sophisticated pastry chef who's struggling to keep the doors of her bakery open. Facing eviction, she decides to return home with her fiancé Brent to collect a sizable engagement gift from her eccentric Texan family. But when Brent is felled by allergies and unable to travel, Mary bails his identical-twin brother Jake out of jail and brings him home passing him off as her fiancé.
- In the '80s, Mack Cameron (Timothy Bottoms) was a star in his own right but now, as a middle-aged actor in Hollywood, he's working like crazy to stay in the game. Movie shoots keep him from his wife Liz (Meredith Baxter) and two sons for long stretches of time and his marriage is suffering from his absence. Mack is locked in battle between work and family when he's offered a role in a small independent film shooting in his hometown of Littleton, Texas. He grudgingly accepts the part, bringing the family along in a last-ditch attempt to reconnect with his sons and save his marriage. Everything changes for 12-year-old CJ (Ben Estus) when he is cast as Mack's co-star. Although he's a gifted performer, the kid is misunderstood by just about everyone. Bullies seek him out at school, while his father pushes him to play baseball like the other boys. After a promising start to the shoot, Mack's decision to put his family first has repercussions on his career. At odds with himself, he lashes out at everyone on set nearly taking out the production along with CJ's blossoming career. As Mack's life unravels, CJ unknowingly inspires him to take a hard look at his own ambition and find something he didn't know he was missing; Mack must nearly lose it all before he discovers that his heart lies not in Hollywood, but with his family in Littleton--his Paradise, Texas.
- This film is an unbiased look into the rise and fall of late 80's and early 90's rap superstar MC Hammer. It begins showing Hammer as a ball boy for his hometown Oakland Athletics, and ends with his departure from Death Row Records. It delves deep into the ruthless dirty business of record companies and dirty sanchez's. The most moving scene in the film is when Hammer drops a deuce in the pool at a Death Row event.

Judy sees the party as a chance for Cody to advance; he sees it as a chance to impress the woman of his dreams. The fact that he bungles it horribly is perfectly natural. He couldn't do it any other way. The guests are all impossibly proper - preppies, yuppies, culturally elite - which are simply trendy labels for snobbish bores. His reputation precedes him, and once Cody arrives, he trips all over it. The harder he tries to be one of them, the more he fails. From his first bizarre comment to his outrageous exit, Cody alienates almost every guest, disrupts the party and turns it into chaos. ...and there's a love story in here somewhere as well.
