- June 21, 1941. Young lieutenant Kolya Pluzhnikov, having received an appointment to a permanent place of service, arrives in Brest. The crowded waiting rooms of the station and the crowd of people weighed down with luggage do not alarm the young man, filled with joyful hopes. Kolya hurries to the location of his unit - the Brest Fortress... The soldier does not have time to enlist in the personnel of the military, and at four in the morning artillery explosions are heard - the war has begun. He was not enlisted in the ranks of the military personnel of the Brest Fortress, but still took part in the first battle in his life, which lasted ten months.
- The year 1829. Nikolay Gogol, a young Third Section clerk, is desperate: his own books seem shallow and mediocre, so he keeps buying entire print runs just to burn them all. He is suffering from violent epileptic seizures and struggles to keep on working. Investigator Yakov Guro accidentally witnesses one such fit and realizes that Gogol's visions contain clues that could help solve actual crimes. Together, Gogol and Guro take on a particularly weird and baffling case that brings them to a small village of Dikanka, where everyone has a huge secret to hide.
- Based on real events. November 1943. The Nazis bring a new batch of Soviet orphans to Vyritsa, where a so-called "children's shelter" is set up in a former pioneer camp. The conditions here are unbearable: cold, hunger, forced labor, a punishment cell for disobedience, and execution for attempting to escape. But the worst thing is that children are used as blood donors for wounded Germans. Despite all the horror and inconceivability of what is happening, having united, the young heroes find the strength and courage to resist and decide to escape.

- In the fall of 2013, Ukraine became involved in a tug-of-war between the EU and Russia. Both wanted to tie the country closer to them. Extensive protests broke out in the country when it appeared that the then president had canceled the negotiations with the EU on a rapprochement. The center of the protests was Maidan Square in Kyiv. The consequences of the protests were both far-reaching and dramatic.
- Dronov and Mosin were friends since the orphanage, where the boys sworn to become rich no matter what. But a stupid car accident confuses all Dronov's brilliant plans.
- Episode one shows for the first time the cities of Saint Petersburg and Moscow from the air and roams the 200 km wide Volga Delta, in which ten million birds spend the winter over the year. The camera team climbs the 5,000-meter peak of Elbrus in the Caucasus Mountains and watches the herds of antelopes in the steppes of Kalmykia in search of water points.
- Episode three flies over Siberia with Lake Baikal, which despite its size is frozen six months a year, and follows the Trans-Siberian Railway on its way to the Far East.
