Two students of a theological seminary in totalitarian Czechoslovakia must decide if they'll choose the easier way of collaboration, or if they'll subject themselves to the surveillance of the secret police.

OUT is an odyssey about a 50-year-old family man Agoston wandering through East Europe. After losing his lifelong job in a power plant of a small Slovak village, Agoston takes the shady but alluring opportunity to work as a welder in a shipyard in Latvia. The journey in hopes of a new job in reality turns into an accelerating whirlwind of absurd events of short encounters, newly found-and-lost-again friendships subtracting from Agoston all his possessions and everything he once believed to be his whole life. However Agoston doesn't give up his search for income and decides to pursue his dream of catching a big sea fish.

Top cyclist Roman has had enough of serving as a domestique, a bicycle racer who sacrifices for the team. And since strenuous training and a strict regimen don't lead to the type of performance he longs for, he sets up an oxygen tent at home. His obsession with having a sports career, however, renders him oblivious to his wife Sarlota's desire to have a baby.

Set in the realities of post-war Poland, the film tells the story of mourning parents setting off on their last journey with their son, as seen from the point of view of their grandson Jan. The son of Hanna and Jacob, a Home Army soldier Waclaw "Odrowaz" Szewczyk, is shot by the secret police in the autumn of 1946. After suffering a series of humiliations by the new authorities, who continuously desecrate their child's corpse, Hanna and Jacob decide to provide their son with a proper burial in the Paclawska Calvary, 500 km away. Their venture through Poland - a country still haunted by the post-war nightmare, becomes a metaphorical journey into the depths of the human soul and an attempt to reorder the world in which neighbors turn against each other, and where one's current enemy may become an unexpected ally.

The Film maps the terrorist acts of individuals in the period of "normalisation" in Czechoslovakia. Their attempts, which often remained unrealized, were isolated heroic cries in the homogeneous gray mass of society. With the main theme as the background, the film looks at issues of ethics, irrationality and terrorism, its sense and deadly force in today's world. The film focuses on a trio of protagonists. The first wanted to blow up a podium during Labour Day celebrations in the 1970's. The second wanted to assassinate the President and launch an anti-Communist revolution, but his letter addressed to the CIA was so naive that he never received a response. The third destroyed billboards. At the time their acts were crimes, though today they are considered to be heroism. It is a film about relative perspectives on history and its heroes.
