- NY84 follows the adventures of three young artists in the downtown art scene in the early 1980's. We gain an intimate glimpse into the creative and emotional life of Kate, Anton, and Keith. Young and carefree, the friends party, photograph, paint, sing, and play their way through the clubs and lofts of Alphabet City. The party ends in 1984 when Anton and Keith contract a mysterious illness known as the "gay cancer." As her music career takes off, Kate tries to save her friends. With the cameras still rolling, we meet the parents, patrons, and patients that struggle against the epidemic.
- Louisa, in her forties, lost her husband a few years ago. She lives alone in Paris with her cat. One night, she bumps into Charles, her first love she hasn't seen for twenty years. Based in New York he is a famous writer, know for his novel describing his sexual experiences. They make love the night before he flies back to New York. She got pregnant. - "An American Trilogy" is a compilation of three independent movies directed and written by Cyril Morin, showing three "American tragedies" over the last 40 years. "The Activist", is about the Native American insurrection at Wounded Knee in 1973, "NY84" is about the starting of Aids in New York in the early eighties, and "Hacker's Game" is a love story between two hackers in our modern world. All the stories are freely inspired by real events or real characters... Following the three movies, a documentary called "An American Trilogy" (22 minutes length) shows the relation between the three movies by using key words.
