What is this movie? A blues & music movie? A vampire movie? A horror flick? A musical? A movie about racism in the early 20th century? Let me answer that for you. It's about all of these and none of these. Sinners really lacks identity on what it's trying to be or achieve. The first 45 minutes of the movie is great, it has some great music, and they introduce the vampires so you're thinking cool this is a movie about music and vampires. NOPE, about an hour into the movie when the first musical act is on screen you get your first look at some chick twerking wearing modern clothes. I couldn't help but laugh, without spoiling the plot they do this throughout the movie from there on out. They even make it about race which is fine, but why? There was literally no plot to support this random storyline. Was the movie good? No, was it bad? No. It was a movie that suffered from a lack of staying composed and realizing it was good enough just to be a blues / vampire movie. It really didn't need everything else they tried to cram in.
I loved walking dead until about season 5. Then it just got old. I followed up recently and finished our the series, reluctantly because it got super cheap and cheesey. This tho has some production value behind it but honestly the zero plot and story was lazy and boring. I love good zombie flicks but this was so slow and poorly written I ended up hating it until the last episode and a half. What this series needed was more neegan and less Maggie. Maggie's character was so flat and unbelievable and honestly I didn't care about. Oh you have to find your kid? Great, who cares. I want to see the different societies that have sprung up which they didn't really concentrate on until the very end. Very unfortunate but very lazy.
Jason Bateman tried, the writing wasn't original at all. But at least it wasn't a remake. The supporting cast was pretty bad and the plot of the movie had some major holes. I can't decide who was more incompetent the HLS in this movie or Trump's security team in Pennsylvania. I don't know who signs off on these movies at Netflix but honestly I'd rather have less good movies than a lot of bad movies and this is just another notch on Netflixs belt of terrible movies. I wish they took the five minutes it takes to tighten up these scripts. Maybe hire some better supporting characters and quit with the typical.
