I think that most of us have probably all seen the 80s cult classic Running Man starring Arnold and when I heard that this version was going to be closer to the book which I haven't read. I was intrigued, would it be good? Another remake of an Arnold film like Total Recall, is it necessary?
For me personally it delivered and was the 80s action throwback that I was looking for.
Glen Powell stars as Ben Richards, a down and out rebel working pay check to pay check to provide for his family who gets blacklisted and has no other choice but to enter The Running Man due to his child needing medication.
Colman Domingo is great as Bobby T, the host of The Running Man TV Show, hamming it up all the way and working alongside Josh Brolin's Dan Killian (a shady network producer).
The film was well acted, decent special effects and action scenes and you really felt the weight of Powell's character as he tries to evade the hunters on his trail, lead by their illustrious masked leader (played by Lee Pace).
There seems to be a lot of mixed reviews of this and some outright hating it (Nerdrotic, The Critical Drinker). I think where this stems from is it isn't the usual flare from Edgar Wright that we are used to, does that make it a bad film? No, by no means.
All I really wanted was to switch my brain off and be entertained by some cheesy manly action, did I get that, yes.
There was also some political commentary which I found very welcoming about society, the government, deepfakes etc.
I would highly recommend you give this a shot yourself and don't rely on the critics to decide for you if you'd enjoy it or not.

Where to begin, if you were expecting and wanting a sequel to Tron Legacy you will be extremely disappointed. Sam Flynn and Quorra are nowhere to be seen. Instead the story follows Encom's new CEO Eve Kim (Greta Lee) who has worse emotional range than Steven Seagal (if that's even possible).
Also the star of the show Ares (Jared Leto) who isn't bad in the role but due to recent allegations you have to wonder what a PR nightmare Disney had to keep this getting released. The story is basically running around getting a permanence code to keep the Tron characters in the real world which is such a boring idea, the whole point of Tron is to get lost in the fantasy of the grid.
The soundtrack was great by Nine Inch Nails, Gillian Anderson is wasted as the mother of Dillinger's CEO Julian Dillinger (Evan Peters). Plus the CGI scenes in Tron Legacy looked miles better than what we see here. Not terrible but a pretty lacklustre and average film in my eyes, like another reviewer pointed out and said it has no soul. It seems a lot of recent films are being made this way, there's no substance or characters to really relate to or get behind, everything is just so flat!

I don't know if it's just me or what but after watching the new Jurassic World I didn't think 2025 Hollywood blockbusters could get any worse.
I just sat there through the whole film thinking I'm so glad I never went to the cinema to watch.
The casting is fine, I didn't have a problem with anyone but everything was so by the numbers, I'm actually shocked by the reviews on here, are people just getting dumber? I really don't know.
The actress playing Cat Grant was also hotter then the actress playing Lois Lane. Was Krypto just inserted into this film to sell toys? Probably.
All in all a very forgettable film.
