Meurtre à Monaco

As "Murder In Monaco" (2025 release; 90 min.) opens, it is "Monaco 1999" and Edmond Safra, a multi-billionaire banker, and his nurse, perish in a fire in Safra's penthouse. We then go back in time as we learn of Safra's background and how security in Monaco is a prime goal. How could have this happened? Who might've done this? At this point we are 1 minutes into the documentary.

Couple of comments: let me admit upfront that I was not familiar at all with this story, even though it clearly made the headlines (ABC's Peter Jennings, NBC's Tom Brokaw and CBS' Dan Rather all appear in clips). This tale has so many twists and turns that it will spin your head. Was it the Russian mafia? Or Safra's wife? Or a Safra staffer? Or the slow response of the Monaco firefighters? And what was the motive? All is examined in due course, but nothing will prepare you for how it all shakes out.

"Murder In Monaco" is now streaming on Netflix where I caught it just the other night. If you are in the mood for a true crime documentary, I'd readily suggest you check this out and draw your own conclusion.

Yet another poorly made American documentary where they overly focus on constant interviewing of people many of whom are irrelevant or have nothing to add to the story at hand. How about doing a documentary on this in UK style where there is an investigator who covers the facts and tries to unravel all of the issues surrounding this murder in Monaco? I'm not interested in hearing from people. I want to hear the facts and make it a proper crime documentary not the boring in delivery that was this piece of work. Absolute shocker!

A fascinating who-done-it set in Monaco among the rich and famous complete with conspiracy theories. Was it the Russian mafia? The wife? The nurse? There were so many interesting characters. It isn't a long, dragged out documentary fortunately and, unlike other reviewers, I liked how the director was involved particularly at the end.

This curious story of one of the most intriguing death of a top banker in Monaco Is full of mysteries.

All the involved testimonies including the assumed assassin gave all their sentiments and opinions. It's a real thriller guessing all time who was the murder who killed Safra.

At the end i was not sure what happened that night in the penthouse of Safra.

It wasn't boring at all. If you liked it watch the other documentary on Netflix Vjeran Tomic : L'homme-araignée de Paris or the Italian enigma episodes Vatican Girl: The Disappearance of Emanuela Orlandi.

Never heard of this story before so I was kinda excited to dig into this doc when I first heard about it. The director committed the cardinal sin of injecting himself in the story for no real purpose. Many docs I've seen you never hear or see the director anywhere because they want to tell the story, not become part of it. Apparently this director wanted to be in it. One thing that I thought was pretty bad was the footage of the two intruders inside the penthouse. It wasn't made clear that it was reenacted. I kept thinking that the defense got a hold of that footage later on because it never showed up in court but was made up. Bad execution overall. Plenty of other gif docs on Netflix to waste your time with this.
