Diehard Stromberg fan here. Unfortunately, all previous fears were understated, couldn't have made it more politically correct if you wanted to. Two examples: Stromberg apologizes to a gay man about his potentially homophone remarks in the past. Shortly after, he apologizes to Ernie about having bullied him in the past. First time I exited the cinema early (like 15 minutes before the ending).

Stromberg (2025) is unfunny, boring, and feels cheap. The attempt at a meta-level discussion adds neither depth nor satire and falls flat throughout.
Fans of the series will be disappointed-this film is a waste of time for actors, audience, customers, and staff alike, with no redeeming moments at all.

I found the film hilarious. I basically laughed through the whole thing. Incredibly good Stromberg quotes paired with modern-day frustration. There's no better way to capture today's world in film. I have no idea what the negative reviews here are about, maybe they're like the ones we get at the cinema. Twelve people including the two of us, I laughed throughout, the rest just sat there. Anyone who wants to badmouth the film has simply slept through the last twenty years. Things change, even Lurchi and Co. Nevertheless, it has lost none of its humor and charm. I thought the film was great.
I watched the Stromberg series like 10+ times. I know every quote - and I love Stromberg. Unfortunately, this movie is a continuation of a race to the bottom. It started with a 10/10 for the first season, down to a solid 8/10 in season 5. The first movie was OK, but this one is quite painful to watch. As a hardcore fan, you will be waiting for the moment when it actually becomes funny, but all they do is to ridiculate what we actually love about Stromberg. This should be the end.
Anyone expecting simply a repeat of the Stromberg episodes from the 2000s will inevitably be disappointed. Fortunately, screenwriter Ralf Husmann was too intelligent for this kind of recycling. The film contains a multitude of references, meta-levels, and reflections on the Stromberg character in relation to the present day. In the process, the tragedy that has been inherent in the character since the beginning of the series is revealed much more clearly. The screenplay, direction, and the magnificent Christoph Maria Herbst manage to strike a remarkable balance between comedy and tragedy. Stromberg's clash with the new reality shaped by social media is therefore almost inevitable. Remarkably, however, this is not the last word, but-as in the real present-the backlashy Stromberg forces prevail in the end. An intelligent and worthwhile film, if you don't want simple slapstick, but are willing to engage in a reflective examination of the Stromberg character and his inner tragicomedy.
