I could not connect with the character of salma. I found her very confused of what she wants in her life. And to be honest, it's okay to be confused, but I could not appreciate the fact that she does not take responsibility of anything she chooses to do. Nothing she did was wrong except the fact that she fails to acknowledge the feelings of her to be husband. It felt like she was gaslighting and becoming the victim which I don't feel she was given the strong character she portrayed since the beginning of the movie. I think the story could have been much better. There were a lot of plots which are only imaginable and not true in real life. I will not recommend this movie.
At the outset, Single Salma appears to walk a path reminiscent of Jeevan Dhaara, perhaps even drawing inspiration from it. Yet where Rekha's character, in Jeevan Dhaara, ultimately sets aside her own desires for the sake of her family, Huma Qureshi's Single Salma moves in the opposite direction, embracing her individuality, her choices and desires, echoing a more contemporary, self-affirming sensibility. Unfortunately, despite this promising premise, the script of Single Salma gradually loses its grip, slipping into clichés and weakening the emotional arc. What could have been a compelling reinvention ends up feeling uneven, unable to hold itself together as tightly as Jeevan Dhaara once did...
Weak script and poorly written characters ruin what could have been a decent film. The story feels confused and unfocused. The only standout is Shreyas Talpade, who plays the lone genuinely good character. It is nice to see him back on screen, but he gets very little screen time. His character deserved a stronger arc and more focus.
Single Salma attempts to present a realistic story rooted in Lucknow, but the film largely falls short of its ambitions. While the makers clearly wanted authenticity, the execution feels shallow and inconsistent.
The biggest drawback of the film is its language and accent. Lucknow is known for its refined Urdu and cultural politeness, especially among Nawabi families, where even a single nukta in pronunciation matters. Unfortunately, the actors fail to capture this linguistic grace. The accents used throughout the film do not feel native to Lucknow, and the dialogues sound flat, rough, and uninspired. This lack of linguistic accuracy breaks the realism the film is trying to build.
In terms of character design, the casting is decent, but the characters themselves are poorly shaped. They lack depth, emotional layers, and cultural detailing. As a result, the performances remain average and never rise above mediocrity.
The story itself is very ordinary and predictable. It neither explores its theme deeply nor offers anything fresh or memorable. Simply shooting in Lucknow is not enough to reflect its charm, and the director fails to create the city's true cultural atmosphere.
Overall, Single Salma feels like a missed opportunity-well-intended, but ultimately mediocre and forgettable.

A different story with good direction. Actors performed well. The script could have been a bit better by not introducing some unnecessary subplots. In some places I found some overdramatised scenes that don't go with this plot. Huma has proven her great acting skill. Overall, it's a decent movie to watch.
