not sure what people were expecting

This is a PG kids movie along the lines of Spy Kids so it should be rated as such. Had some laughs and the kids enjoyed it. It's a 7, The people comparing it to Iron Man should give their head a shake. It's a kids movie and not a bad one.

Great for kids and parents ...family film

I just finished watching it with my 9 yr old and we loved it. Plenty of laughs, fast paced, with fun likeable characters (including the villians lol). It was obviously made for a younger audience and on that note it hits well. The ppl complaining were probably hoping for marvel/DC level action but that's not what this is. It's more on the level of Spy kids but I personally think it was better than those films. We really enjoyed it its definitely one of the better kids movies I've seen in awhile. Dont listen to the bad reviews and give it a chance.

Familiar formula, done well

Secret headquarters in a way is nothing new and follows in those movies with a similar plot line. Kid thinks father is a deadbeat. Till kid finds out father is the greatest person to ever live. I like to call that the turbo man effect. Anyway Owen Wilson is jack the father of Charlie who is never there for him. But little does young Charles know his father is actually a superhero. Charlie tries to impress a new girl and his friend Berger brings them round to hangout. Things happen and headquarters is found. Villains find it. In the for of Pena a scientist of all people. There was some pretty fun moments though and overall it was an enjoyable film.

It's a PG-rated kids superhero movie - don't judge it as a movie made for adults

There are continuity gaps and characters are flat. It's CGI heavy. Everything is flashy and shiny and lots of stuff blows up. The jokes are intended for a grade-school audience. Not unexpectedly, the kids are smarter than the adults and end up saving the day.

Make some popcorn and spend an evening with your kids. There are worse things in life.

Good, clean fun

Honestly, we went into this with low expectations. It is clearly a kid film; just plain fun. The cute little Witherspoon gal is 😂 and her facial expressions are top notch. I look forward to seeing what she does next. Look, give it a try. It may not be a Hollywood blockbuster but it is far better than some of the absolute garbage being served up in theaters lately.

Trivia
The futuristic electric motorcycle featured in the secret headquarters is a real motorcycle created by vehicle designer Hugo Eccles and manufactured by Untitled Motorcycles, California.

Goofs
When the police are chasing Charlie and his friends in the van, the two lanes of traffic on the road are going in the same direction, but there is a yellow dotted line in the road which means it is a two way road.

Crazy credits
Near the end of the credits, Argon is still alone in the other dimension, asking if everyone (the audience) is leaving and that he really needs to use the restroom.
