This was a team up between two British comedy legends for a Christmas Special.
It did not I believe lead to anything more, and again I can see why.
In short bursts these two work well together, but would I have wanted to see this week in, week out? No. They just don't gel well as a double act well enough for me to crave more of them.
Perfectly acceptable for Christmas though.

As others have said, this wasn't the best episode in terms of the case of the week element. It did feel a bit like filler what with the final episode looming.
Remember when Caroline Quentin could carry a series on her own? Those days look long gone based her performance here.
What saves this episode is the human element. We care for Humphrey and Martha with their ongoing fostering issues, we care about Kelby, we want to know why Esther is so guarded.
Those things are more than worth adding another star to my review of an otherwise fairly standard episode.
