I was very curious to see how they would pick up the story of Superman without Christopher Reeves. And, I'm really very disappointed. The tract they have taken for this Superman series is much more comic book and childish than the Christopher Reeves' character.
I really disliked the foolish new characters that have been introduced. And, I'm having a hard time with Lois, because I keep seeing, The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel! Rachel Brosnahan was so good in that part, that it's taking me time to transition her into a bitchy Lois.
The acting is fine, except for Nathan Fillon's overly foolish character. The other two in that superhero trio are pretty bad, too. And Ma and Pa Kent are ridiculous, too. Talk about country bumpkins! They are an insult to the people of Kansas, especially Mrs. Ken!
I blame all of that on the writers and the director. The movie is watchable, as in, if you have nothing better to do, give it a watch. But, I can't recommend it. I'm not even sure that kids would like it.
The parts I liked best were the addition of Superdog, and a cameo of William Reeves as a nod to his dad.

Scene: Two women are standing over a corpse talking about ideas and clues, like the obvious, and perfect, lipstick mark on the forehead. Then one woman says they can check for finger prints and the other says, as she turns toward her in surprise, "That's right! No two are alike!" Duh!
What century are they supposed to be in? I don't know anyone, older than a young child, who doesn't know that! Every crime show I've seen, other than one that was supposed to be taking place back in time, has always checked the fingerprints. It's a crime scene basic that anyone in the 20th and 21st century would already know.
This is the first time I've watched this show, and, in all honesty, I chose it because of the dog. I LOVE German Shepherds. But with dialogue like that, it may be the last time I watch!
And, why isn't the dog leashed while walking into buildings, etc. The only time I see police dogs off leash, while working, is when they are sent off to do their jobs, like doing a search, or tracking and stopping a suspect. Pretty poor writing, though I still like the dog!
Remember, I'm only basing my review on this one episode, so, others MUST be better to stay on the air for so many years. I'll give it any other try, but if they're all like this.........I'm gone.

They had a TV movie, The Haunted 1991, about this many years ago. I watched it just the other day on YouTube in anticipation of watching this movie. I was really expecting something bigger and better! It isn't!
This version had a great deal about the Warrens, while the TV movie centered on the family, the haunting, and the assistance they got from family, friends, and the Catholic Church before it turned to people harassing them as quacks. That movie only had a tiny part about the involvement of the Warrens. And, sadly, I thought it was much better than this version! Less CGI, but a better story. And no dark scenes you can barely see what's happening, as in this newer version. At least the TV version stuck to the story, unlike this version jumping all over the place from the Warrens to the Smurls.
I almost bought this movie, but I'm very glad I didn't. What a terrible disappointment! The hype in the ads was really misleading! I wouldn't even recognize it as the same story, if I hadn't known it was supposed to be.
I hate to say it, but this movie was boring, and the worst of the Conjuring movies! And its ending was vastly different from the ending of The Haunted.
