A simple, feel-good film is all we ask from the Lalettan-Sathyan Anthikad combo, and that's exactly what we get in Hridayapoorvam. There are no big dramatic highs or lows, but the presence of a solid ensemble anchored by a sweet Lalettan performance makes this ride enjoyable for the most part. Justin Prabhakaran's music is refreshing; Venmathi is just beautiful to listen to. Malavika Mohanan is also good in a role that gets a more meaningful arc in the second half. But the standout here is Sangeeth Prathap -- good humour is based on "reactions" -- and Sangeeth's scenes with Mohanlal frequently elevate the film, even when it shows signs of sinking. Siddique, Janardhanan, and Lalu Alex make Hridayapoorvam more palatable overall.
Some specific sections could've made the film descend into 'cringe' territory, but the writing thankfully remains steady in the hands of Sonu TP (watch his short film already, if you haven't). Sangita is also a neat presence here, but I wish someone else had dubbed for her. For Sathyan Anthikkad, while this is nowhere close to his iconic works, it's a worthwhile comeback after the absolutely forgettable Makal. DoP Anu Moothedath makes the cast, and especially Pune, look magnificent. To summarize, this is quite the 'crowd-pleaser' -- for anyone looking to bring their friends and families to the cinemas.
P. S. Loved the styling/costumes for Malavika Mohanan -- she was an absolute stunner!
P. P. S. I'm not sure if either of the "cameos" hit the mark. But I'll give marks for trying!

Hridayapoorvam is a refreshing step back from the violent, action-heavy films of the past. The story centers on a heart transplant, with Mohanlal delivering a brilliant, emotional performance. There's a fight scene, but it's simple hand-to-hand-much more grounded than over-the-top action. That said, it's a bit hard to believe his character, as a recent heart recipient with a back injury, can still fight.
Sathyan Anthikad blends gentle humor and family emotions effectively, and even minor roles-like the tea guy-add charm. The songs are okay, but Mohanlal's presence makes this a one-time watchable film worth remembering.

Sathyan Anthikad's Hridayapoorvam is a light-hearted comedy drama made for a family audience. The film has a really good screenplay in the first half but becomes a little repetitive in the second half. The cinematography is commendable, and so is the music. Although the film is predictable, that isn't much of an issue, as the comic elements keep you engaged. Mohanlal delivers yet another performance. It's his charm that brings a smile to your face. Meanwhile, Sangeeth Pratap is simply brilliant with his expressions. Their on-screen chemistry is delightful. Malavika does a decent job, but her character feels written at a very surface level. Siddique and Sangeeta provide solid support.
A few characters from the supporting cast stand out, while others feel just okay. It's in the second half where the film tries to become an emotional journey, but it doesn't quite succeed in generating the emotions it intends to, mainly because the love angle feels a little awkward. Otherwise, with brilliant comedy in the first half and an average second half, Hridayapoorvam becomes a heartwarming watch that could have been even better if the emotions had worked. Nonetheless, it's worth watching if you're in the mood for a light film.
OVERALL 6/10.

Hridayapoorvam is a feel-good Malayalam movie that leaves you with a warm heart. The story may feel familiar - like old wine in a new bottle - but the way it's told keeps us engaged till the very end.
One of the biggest strengths of the film is the lead character, played by Mohanlal. A role like this feels much safer and more effective in Mohanlal's hands. His natural acting and screen presence make the character very relatable and lovable. Director Sathyan Anthikad clearly knows how to bring out the best in Mohanlal, and their combination once again works beautifully here.
The chemistry between Mohanlal and Sangeeth is also a highlight. Their scenes together feel genuine and add charm to the film. All the other actors have also done a great job, contributing to the overall feel-good mood of the movie.
In short, Hridayapoorvam might not be a very new story, but it's told in a way that keeps us interested. With good performances, solid direction, and emotional moments, it's a movie worth watching.
