The movie seemed promising, but the kid keeps ruining everything; he's unbearable! He keeps causing one problem after another. I understand he's a child, but they made him extremely stupid and capricious. He can't even follow a simple instruction, he doesn't follow you, he can't even walk on his own!

The Great Flood begins on a strong note, drawing the viewer in with an engaging and suspenseful opening. The early scenes set up an interesting premise and create real curiosity about where the story is headed. However, as the film progresses, it gradually loses focus. The narrative becomes overly long, unnecessarily complicated, and increasingly confusing. Subplots pile up without clear direction, and the pacing slows down significantly, making the experience feel dragged and cluttered. By the final act, the film struggles to maintain coherence, leaving the audience more puzzled than satisfied. Overall, The Great Flood starts well but fails to deliver a clear, well-structured payoff.

Such an irritating kid he is the reason ppl might won't like that movie. His acting and the role given to him wasnt necessary.
They shud have thought some other ways to get involved in troubles. This kid spoils the whole mood of watching this movie.
I stopped watching this movie in between because of him.

The storytelling is brittle, but there is still enjoyment to be had from this story of a mother and child and rescue from a catastrophic flood in Seoul. It all begins very quickly, as a catastrophic flood is currently sweeping across the world. One woman, An-na (Kim Da-mi) has been targeted as a key person who must be saved. Kim Da-mi serves as the emotional anchor with a force that holds scenes together when the narrative starts pulling in too many directions.
The execution could have been stronger if it were a little shorter.🌊

Like so many disaster movies before it. A disobedient little brat completely ruins the entire thing by running off and getting into trouble at every possible opportunity. Disobeying their parents in disaster situations, no sense of self preservation. Actively trying to get everyone killed. Its just infuriating. I couldnt even get half way through this movie before turning it off because the kid just ruined every action scene with constant whining and getting in the way. Kids being used as plot devices to cause drama and conflict is the worst movie cliche there is.

This movie was without exaggeration, the worst movie I've watched this year. The opening act actually showed promise, with a tense setup and characters that felt like they might go somewhere interesting. Unfortunately, that momentum collapses fast. The plot becomes increasingly muddled, jumping between ideas without explanation and introducing twists that add confusion instead of depth. By the midpoint, it was hard to tell what the movie wanted to be, or why anything was happening at all. Scenes drag on while key details are skipped, making the story feel both rushed and bloated. What could have been a solid thriller turns into a frustrating, incoherent mess that wastes a decent premise. I finished it out of stubbornness, not enjoyment, and regretted every confused minute...
Also that kid annoyed me so much!

I went into this expecting very little. Just a decent disaster movie that does just enough to entertain me.
It starts out pretty intense, where we follow this mom and her son trying to survive «the great flood». Then it does a 180 and turns into a sci-fi movie.
I am assuming pretty much the entire movie is shot in a «green screen stage/studio». The VFX is impressive for its (i would hope) low budget. But not impressive enough to be totally immersive.
Its a good effort, but I fear the movie is overambitious yet somehow lacking in plot and overall execution.
The lead character, An-na, is the only thing keeping it from being a total disaster.
5/10.

This was a very well done tale mostly told through visualization and with a great deal of sophistication. Those who cannot interpret what they see and must be explicitly told what they were looking at, will not enjoy this story. A good example of this is the changes made to main character's tee-shirt as she relives story iterations. You see it. You are not told about it. If you didn't see that you didn't watch the movie at all. The Marvel universe will better fulfil your needs. Likewise, those who have no idea about how AI works internally, will not understand any part of the story. A Disney production would be more along your lines of interest. Despite the fact the story is about acquiring feelings, those who interpret the world through 'feels' will be completely lost and confused. Not recommended for you folks at all.
Visually, the effects were stunning as was the acting. The story is very similar in many ways to the Alicization story arc of Sword Art Online, which was rated by most viewers far higher than this story. The reason for this is most likely due to the sophistication and open mindedness of its viewing audience. If you like SAO then you'll like and understand and enjoy this story without issue. Kudos to the actors. All of them were amazing. This was finely woven story telling with elements of science fiction. If you like to think, then this movie is for you.

Immediately the woman and child annoyed me. I couldn't even get further than ten minutes into it it was so bad. I was looking forward to this movie and as soon as Netflix let me know it has finally come out I ran to watch it. Sorry, but the characters are just way too annoying for me. I also don't know how the mother was so oblivious to things. And carrying the kid in your back all the time? Yeah right. No woman that size is doing that for that long and doing all these physical activities. Very unbelievable. I'm very disappointed.

The kid makes this movie unwatchable, never in my life have I ever been more frustrated with a single character! The film is confusing and messy, sci-fi at its worst. And im a guy who is easily amused in the movies. I think this might be my all time hated movie picture. I want these 2 hours back and I'm getting a vasectomie.

The movie started of great and exciting, but when a kid is inserted the child is not cute but more of annoying and it makes the movie un-enjoyable to watch. I always like watching Korean movies and drama. Continue to make good similar movies like this without any annoying child.
My rating would have been higher without the kid and if I understood the movie.

The problems start right from the beginning. In first 10-20 minutes are the best part, but even that section is full of nonsense. There's a massive tsunami-something like a 10-meter wave-and somehow the main character survives it. Anyone hit by a wave like that would be knocked out instantly, if not killed outright. On top of that, her kid survives too, even after being unconscious underwater long enough that he'd realistically have water in his lungs. It's played off like a miracle, but it just feels lazy and unrealistic.
The movie also completely ignores how disasters of this scale would actually work. If an asteroid big enough to melt most of Antarctica's ice were coming, we wouldn't just wake up to flooding one day. The impact would be detected far in advance. The entire planet would feel it-earthquakes, volcanic eruptions, tectonic plates shifts, insane weather shifts-long before a tsunami ever hit. None of that is addressed. The film just jumps straight to chaos without doing the groundwork.
Then there's the bigger issue with the plot. In an extinction-level event like this, the world would come together to find solutions. Governments, scientists, space agencies-everyone working together, like in 2012. Instead, we get this narrow story where a few characters are somehow key to saving humanity, and the solution revolves around AI with emotions. That's where the movie really loses me.
I don't mind disaster movies focusing on one country, and I don't mind Korea as a setting, but the leap here is ridiculous. Korea hasn't even sent an astronaut to space through its own program, yet the movie expects us to believe they're sending people into space to save humanity with the help of emotional AI. It just feels forced and unrealistic.
After the opening, the movie turns into another "AI with feelings will save us" story. This idea is not new, and at this point it's just boring. Movies and shows are leaning way too hard on AI plots, and this one adds nothing new. The film keeps pushing the idea that giving AI emotions is a good thing, which feels especially dumb given where real-world AI development is heading. We already have plenty of movies warning us why that's a bad idea, yet this one treats it like some deep revelation.
Overall, this feels like typical Netflix content: polished on the surface, empty underneath. It's the kind of movie you put on in the background while doing something else around the house. I don't get why Netflix keeps pouring money into this kind of stuff. Korean content used to feel more grounded and original before Netflix got involved, but now a lot of it feels like expensive, below-average filler.
In short, it's forgettable, poorly thought out, and nowhere near as smart as it thinks it is.

I expected great things , and was so excited to see it. I found it abit confusing at times it disappointed me , wasn't awful but wasn't great either , real shame . Good acting skills.
Started promising.
Worth watching once at least.
And now I am just adding characters as my review is too short lol.

When a movie defends itself with "it's not for everyone," it's already in trouble.
The issue here is not ambition or complexity, but a broken narrative contract. The film promises a visceral survival experience and then abandons it midway for a conceptual twist that rewrites the rules instead of deepening them.
Confusing abstraction with depth doesn't make a story intelligent. True depth comes from consequences, not from invalidating what the audience has already lived through.
Understanding a movie does not obligate you to praise it. And in this case, understanding the twist doesn't improve the experience-it weakens it.
