I haven't heard anything myself. I personally don't care for the way X-Wing/Armada play, and I'm not a big fan of the models for Runewars either. I'm also way too into AoS

Well, if what I've heard is true, the guy in charge of developing AoS also runs a Halfling Team in Bloodbowl - the equivalent of playing Dan in Street Fighter, or using a Tyranid army filled with Pyrovores, or playing tennis with one foot nailed to the court. Sure, it's silly fun, but he apparently brought that "It's just silly fun" mentality with him into an environment not suited for it. Shoehorning that mentality into a game that's been moving away from such things so suddenly? Yeah, no wonder people lost their minds.
Jervis Johnson who is kinda like a Warhammer diety, like Gene Simmons is for Metal.
Is it game design or the level of fantasy? I can understand there being several levels. I think that unfortunately The Internet has been told what is what, and that helps form our opinions. Best bet is to try it again with an open mind. Trust me, I had to do the same thing: Look at it as something totally new.
If you don't like a little craziness in your Fantasy, well then that's that. I think there are a lot of really cool, creative ideas personally that breaks beyond the Tolkein universe. To dismiss this game as '4 pages of rules with no depth' is not good, it means you need to give it another whirl or try learning from someone else. Like I had mentioned above, I've played tons of games and I still feel like I'm learning something new every time I play. Nuances, tricks, tactics, strategy, call it what you will. It's all in there.
Don't go into this expecting to play Warhammer Fantasy, this isn't it. I love AoS. I've played WFB since 6th ed, and AoS (with the GHB) is the superior game to me. I've had to have played upwards of 50 games at this point, probably more. We can get in a game in a couple hours, last week we played multiple 1000 point games in a 2 hour time period.
I think not having to look up multiple rules and how they interact all over the place has made things way better. All those complicated rules from the BRB are now instead on the free Warscrolls, available on an easy to look up app. There is tons of synergy and tricks, and I find that overall Strategy combined with Tactics is way more fulfilled in AoS. You could lose a game in deployment in WFB, that just doesn't happen in AoS. The double turn can be mean, but there isn't a game I've played yet where I've lost because of it. In fact I think I've LOST the double turn more than anything else. Be ready for it, lay down your plans in a Tzeentchian way prepared for multiple paths of grinding your opponents army into dust!
I totally get people loved the Old World, I did too. I like where they are headed with AoS so far though, the books I've read and the Audiobooks are great. They are set up to have a MASSIVE world, and they are laying down the framework for us now. The Old World wasn't built in a day (or even a year) there was 30 years of fluff behind it in a finite amount of space. The Mortal Realms are crazy, high fantasy places.
Give it another whirl. Don't look at as WFB, but as a new game altogether.
Armada, because we have a league going on. The rest of my group aren't much for painting, so all of the Star Wars games from FFG...which I'm personally getting a bit jaded on. I think it's because I prefer Fantasy...something with some character.
I brought over Silver Tower a couple weeks ago, and it was great fun! I can't wait to play again. We'd also played a bit of Bolt Action, which the group seemed to like...but not many want to invest in another game...especially when they don't build/paint.
I am not sure why I felt so much trepidation to go into that store. As a huge comic nerd and recovering Magic player, I shouldn't have had any problem going in that store. I was a manager at a comic shop in the same mall, working one of the island stores...so I was a well known nerd/geek sort. There was just something daunting about it, perhaps it was all the people inside playing their games? I don't know. I would spend time gazing upon the beautiful miniatures in the cases that fronted the store no problem.
That's all changed now of course, I couldn't care less. I have display cases with my models in my home, and love to show my completed works off. People are usually pretty impressed that paint can be done at such a scale.
I felt the same way when we had a GW at our local mall. When I finally went in there, I used my 1 year old daughter as a 'nerd shield'
"Oh you saw me go into Games Workshop? It was my daughter, she wanted to go look. I'm into normal stuff like women, beer and Robot Chicken" (this was before GoT).
I used to be an eBay seller, and stopped for the same reason. I was selling a few things to help make ends meet (username weneediapers). That ebay buyer sounds familiar too, I sold a Bretonnian Character (rare one at that, if I recall) totally sealed in blister. They went through the whole eBay thing, and even though I had pictures of it sealed before I sent it...I lost. They sent me back an opened blister, though there was nothing missing. This was the last straw.
DUST Studios has offered different kits and premium models on their own site for a while, it has nothing to do with their regular 'Pre-Built and Primed' line. Take a gander through their site, they even sell limited edition models and gear for the tanks. They have tank pilots and riders too.
A message from Dust Studio William Yau
BF gave us a list for wave 2 on Nov 2014 without any payment, even though we had asked many times but no money was paid for wave 2. We don’t want to hold the production and make backers waiting forever, we decided to go ahead and produced them anyway. But with limited resources, the production takes more time. We could have done it on Feb if we were paid. Anyway, the production was done now.
BF asked for the list of production and I sent John-Paul the CEO and Peter the owner the list repeatedly on

We had email back and forth with the same email subject so they should not miss the list. Anyway, since they asked for it, I sent the list just now again. The list is exactly the same as they provided us on Nov, so I think both parties is well aware that we are talking about the same qty.
Let’s see if this is true now. “Just to say once more, the options above can be fully avoided if Dust Studio would just give us an itemised list of what has been made so we can pay them and collect the goods!”
I think BF did a great job rewriting the rules. They get you in with the boardgame, then it's fairly simple to go to a regular Wargame with some additional rules once you have the basics (Tactics). I thought it was a great system (I've played just about everything) and it was working to get some of our friends that only Board Game into playing some Tabletop stuff.
I like the BF version better, personally. We actually have a budding DUST fanbase here. I will admit the Kickstarter fiasco is hurting things, I have a couple hundred bucks tied up in it and I'm not happy. I'm hoping Paolo and company can do some good will service to get us all excited again.

I'd thought of this, but it probably wouldn't take much to put 2+2 together. If it's a shop's major source of income, they may not be willing to take that chance. I was even considering starting a store of my own for a while until I saw the new ToS.
When I could get a good discount, I used to LOVE selling bits. I'd happily sit on the couch with the missus after work, just clipping away. I loved the excitement of starting all auctions at $.99 and watching them rise (or not sell ). I even loved packing them all up and sending them off. I also loved that it helped to pay the mortgage every month, I relied on it in fact.
I'd bring it back again with a dedicated website if I could find a distributor.
There was one in Holyoke MA and Boston right in Harvard Square in Cambridge. There used to be one in Manchester CT...at one point I had 2 stores within a 20 minute drive.
Just a bit of feedback, as everything else I would have said would be covered.
Instead of a straight discount to members or shoppers, a couple of LGS's around here used to have a buy 3 get one free or buy 4 get one free. I would dump a LOT of cash into those stores. Another has a straight 15% off for members to the local club.
I love the idea of paying a few bucks to be in a campaign for an evening. If my LGS's did this, I'd probably go every time. This would be a great starting point to get people into playing Kill Teams (for 40K beginners), Malifaux, saga, X-Wing, Dust, Dreadball, Deadzone, Song of Blade and Heroes...there is a lot you could do.
Keep it clean, pay attention to your customers. There was an LGS here that wasn't so clean and organized, and you'd walk in and they'd be playing video games or on the computer the whole time. While I don't really want to be followed around and bullied into buing thins, I do like the social interaction.
I'm not sure how it happened but I'm 40 as well. I started with 40k 9 years ago or so, it took the place of MMO's (stupidly addicting things). I can see this is a hobby for life, it appeals to my artistic side as well as the SMASH side.
I've been painting with my oldest daughter since she could hold a brush, and her little sister isn't too far off from that age. I have been teaching her some basic painting techniques, and she love to paint with her old man. We play a bit of Super Dungeon Explore, and like to play just about any other board games as well. I know she will be a bonafide gamer painting miniatures way better than her dad in no time!
I also game with people generally in my age range. I used to hit up the LGS, but the hours were too restrictive with a family. Now we game in either mine or my buddy's basement, normally until the wee hours.
This is awful to hear. I sell a lot of stuff on eBay, and because of events like this (but not to the same value) I've stopped offering International Shipping. There was a time where I would sell International but only Priority, so insurance would cover anything. I then had someone in Spain refuse to bring their 'damaged' item to the Post Office so insurance could take care of it. So I got nailed by eBay and was out a few hundred dollars.
I do hook up Dakka though, so if you buy from weneediapers on eBay send me a message with your forum handle.
