I adored the illustrations and reading from Ivan's POV was equal parts cute and upsetting. This book does not shy away from talking about animal cruelty and I think that is an important conversation for kids to learn about. Especially in a way that is appropriate without beating around the Bush. Highly recommend this lovely little book!...more

Here is the thing, Elain deserved so much more, Guenivere is actual trash, Lancelot is a waffely little bafoon, and Arthur is a spoiled 30 year old...and I frickin' live for the drama these idiots create. This is one of my absolute favorite love triangles of all time and T.H. White just wrote it all so matter-of-fact which just adds to the craziness of what is actually going down. I am trash for this book in the series and I will always be trash for it. The end. ...more

This was a cute and lovely little story, but it just missed something for me. While it was charming and the girl power was fantastic I just wasn't in love with it. It is a really solid retelling and I would recommend it for fans of retellings, particularly ones that aren't just beauty and the beast romances. This was a breathe of fresh air in a genre that is usually so stale for me, even if I didn't really connect with it. ...more

Everything hurts. Wow. I am crying really hard right now. What a lovely and beautiful read this was! This reminded m a lot of Rascal by Sterling North, both the book and the movie. It also, obviously gave me Fox and the Hound vibes. Basically this book stomped on mt heart and I'm not okay with it. ...more

It had nature sounds in the background and I was living for the soothing mood it put me in.
Audiobook quality aside the illustration were gorgeous and the characters innately lovable. I wish I had read this as a kid, though my childhood emotional trauma thanks to the scene where Toad gets locked into jail from the movie might have prevented me from enjoying it fully. So maybe it is better that I read this after therapy lol. ...more

I was so worried for everyone from page one. Lois Lowry has never been an author to waste time on unnecessary words and while I love that about her writing style I do think that held this book back a bit. If she had spent a little more time fleshing out these two families we follow this would have easily been closer to a five star read. That aside this was an important and beautifully written little book and yet another fantastic work by Lois Lowry....more

I really enjoyed this book but I cannot give it more than 3.75 because of two reasons. Reason number one being the obviously racist tilt of the story. I am aware that C.S.Lewis wrote this book in a different time but some things are too much and this felt too far, time period and social climate considered. My second problem with this story is SUSAN. NOT COOL. NOT OKAY. NOPE. Unnecessary and out of character. C.S.Lewis threw her under the bus for no real reason which showcases lazy writing. These complaints aside though I enjoyed so much about this book and overall this series has been a blast to read/listen to throughout 2017! ...more

This graphic novel started off super strong. I was intensely invested and intrigued. the art is gorgeous and the story is fun but unfortunately the ending was a let down. It felt contrived and so bizarre that it felt like the ending of another story. this critique aside though I really enjoyed the journey leading to the end and as I said, the art is gorgeous. :)...more
