The Crash is book #0.5 in the Deserted Island series by Skye Warren and Amelia Wilde. This is my first book by both of these authors! OH MY GOSH! It was crazy amazing! Suspenseful, intriguing, mysterious! There are so many secrets, and I can’t wait to discover them all!

Professor Carter Morelli is twenty nine years old and lives under the persona of a tweed wearing academic that finds his pleasure studying rhizomes. But there is much more to the professor. The fact that he is also a pilot is only part of it. He has secrets.

June Porter is a photographer contracted by the university to take wildlife photos in Africa. But June is terrified of flying, a definite problem since her job requires a lot of travel. The professor and also her pilot is gorgeous, not anything like the image she had in her head.

“I shouldn’t be turned on by Pollyanna with a camera.”

But the flight didn’t go as planned and they crash landed on a remote island. Every fear June has ever had about flying has come true. At least they are alive and unharmed thanks to Carter. But how will they ever be found?

This captivated me from the very first page. It’s very short. A perfect introduction to this world. Now I can’t wait for the first book in the series, Force of Nature.

“When he kissed me, I could fly.”

Another Midnight Dynasty story.
We're still with the Morelli's.
This one is about Carter, the younger brother, the secret agent, the Oxford boring biology professor.

descriptiondescription

Carter has a mission, take June, a photographer in his plane, so he can make a stop in Turkey in their way back, without suspicions.
He's got a problem, Carter is drawn to June in a way he can not understand.
Carter has the need to protect her.
June has flying phobia.

descriptiondescription

But he's about to have more problems, the plane crashes, and worst, it was sabotage.
Someone is trying to kill him, when he sees the black box, he knows it's the Russians.
Now, they're on a desert island, with the communications off, and someone trying to kill them.

descriptiondescription

This is how starts a new Midnight Dynasty series.
How to rate a prequel?
This ends with a cliffhanger, obviously.

June Porter is a Pulitzer Prize-winning photographer headed to Mauritania on a research assignment for the Biology Department at Oxford.

Carter Morelli, a Jack of all trades who serves as a biology professor at Oxford, has been commissioned by the department to pilot June’s plane and accompany her on the wildlife expedition to the deserts of Africa.

With her cheerful disposition and genuinely sweet demeanor, June immediately embeds herself under his skin. When they crash land into a deserted jungle island, the James Bond superhero feels responsible for keeping June safe.

The sizzling chemistry is there from the first pages. What I didn’t expect was to laugh out loud or be so caught up in a prequel! I can’t wait to see what’s next for this unlikely duo when Force of Nature releases.

This was a tease of what I can imagine is to come, a short read which I read in a matter of minutes it felt like but enough of a taste making me want to read the next book!! And no surprises that it ends on a cliffy. And it’s that cliffy that has me invested enough to want to read the next book.
Being such a short read I kind of missed any connection between the two before a kiss was exchanged so I’m hoping that comes.

And then he deepens the kiss, making it rougher and more possessive. Urgent. Primal. Like my fear felt before, only this is a kiss on a deserted island, my back up against the wreckage of our landing. Adrenaline in sex form, filtered through this kiss. It’s the hottest kiss of my life.

Holy prequel batman! I don't usually like to read prequels simply because I have zero chill for the book, which is made even worse by the small taste. But I simply couldn't help myself with this one. I just had to. Am I sorry? Yes. Yes I am. Why? Because I'm pretty sure I will wither away with anticipation for Force of Nature. Wither away I tells ya!

In just 60 pages, this managed to grab me by the throat and hook me immediately. Carter Morelli is an enigma that was instantly intrigued by. A man who isn't who he seems to be. A simple flight turns into something so much more when they're forced into an emergency landing, only to figure out that it wasn't a malfunction that caused them to crash. And the supposedly empty island? They're not alone on it.

GAH!! I need the next book right this second!

*Thank you to the authors and Valentine PR for an ARC of this title. *

This was a great prequel to wet my appetite for what is to come. Carter and June are on a small plane together on the way to Africa. But somewhere over the Pacific Ocean they crash land. And that's just the beginning of their journey because this wasn't the accident they think it is.

I liked the banter and the characters being presented. I am very intrigued and I am so ready to see what we run into next.

It's gonna be a wild ride.

I have been anxiously waiting for Carter’s story and it has started off as an explosive, hoy and spicy teaser of what’s to come! And I can’t wait for more!
June is a photographer who has been tasked to fly 10 hours in a plane to take pictures and the elusive and secretive Carter is her pilot.
I loved this couples banter and instant attraction that sets a spectacular beginning on an epic series!

Carter and June . They could not be more different but they need to survive. Alone in a small island after their plane crashed.
This is one of my most anticipated releases and I am so excited for Force of Nature!!!

I just want some answers before I continue with this series. Is this mmf or mfm? Just a threesome scene? Why are there so many different synopses for the next book? Really annoying tbh.

Edit 7/15 - so Skye Warren announced in the dangerous romance group that there are in fact mmf scenes, but that still doesn’t answer my question. Idk why they couldn’t have just said right from the beginning what the tropes were, and the fact that I asked this question well over a month ago without a response was pretty telling.

Edit 8/22 - “I got some book news for you! I'm currently working on writing a brand new Tarzan-inspired series with my friend Amelia Wilde that takes place in the Midnight Dynasty world! Did you know it is an MMF romance?! 🔥 FORCE OF NATURE is available to order on some retailers; more are coming soon.”

Okay so why couldn’t you have just said that IN THE FIRST PLACE??? 🗑

For the love of all that is insanity!! Why do I continue to do this to myself over and over again?!?!? #holdme

There’s not much to say except that in true Skye & Amelia (but mostly Skye because I don’t know Amelia’s work as well) fashion, my heart is beating out of my chest, I am jittery with anticipation, and I think I might have a stroke my heart is pumping so fast!

And now we wait …. why do I do it? WHY? *cries*

The Crash is a prequel to Skye Warren and Amelia Wilde's new upcoming book, Force of Nature. Even though this is just a short novella of seven chapters, it was more than enough to wet my appetite for more. I can't wait to see what the author's have in store next for June and Carter!

The story starts with Carter Morelli who has to pilot photographer June Porter to Africa for a new job she's doing. Seems easy enough for Carter even with the insane chemistry that's between them from the moment they met, until the plane malfuctions and they crash-land on an island. They both survive and aren't harmed but then Carter realizes they crashed because someone sabotaged the plane and tried to assassinate him. Now he needs to not only keep himself safe but also June.

This was a great start to what I'm sure is going to be a super exciting and hot as hell story. The chapters went back and forth between Carter and June, which I loved. The prequel was short one, very easily to be read in one sitting. There already were some spicy scenes, just enough to make me crave more so I can't wait to read Force of Nature as I'm sure there's a lot in store for these two characters.

Overall, The Crash by Skye Warren and Amelia Wilde is a very promising start of something exciting, dangerous and steamy. I'm already hooked and can't wait to read more!

This is the prequel to the main story that is coming and sets up the stage beautifully! Carter had me hooked from the beginning, June his perfect foil. Then it was a fast-paced, heart-racing, pulse-pounding, rush to the end, and a cliffhanger that has me needing the next book ASAP!

I'm not rating this one, as it's not really a story. It's more an intro to a story, my guess is this is the first 7 chapters of the upcoming book, and not a prequel. That being said, after a mildly slow start, the action pops up and drew me in! I'm still not 100% sure how I feel about June, and especially in relation to Carter, but I'm definitely here for the story! After that cliffhanger, I absolutely need to know what happens next.

Sweltering hot prequel!!

It seems there is more to Carter Morelli, Tiernan's younger brother. I've wondered about him since Beautiful Nightmare, when Tiernan mused he went on to take a call from his mysterious employers in London. I had no idea why a scientific researcher needed high-end encryption on his phone.

June Porter, young inexperienced new wildlife photographer, is excited, and exuding optimism for being hired to take photos of African wildlife, while Carter researches rhizomes.
Even through her fear of flying, June does not fail to notice that the grumpy professor is hot. Like…way hotter. Off-the-charts hot than she imagined.

But than the worst happens, when Carter's secrets catches up with them and the plane goes down.
Who is after them, because the evidence shows the plane's malfunction is not an accident.

LETHALLY ADDICTIVE & STEAMY ISLAND CASTAWAYS … YES, PLEASE

Carter: “I’m not good. I’m not safe. I never have been.” … but … “I want her. The crash shattered my self-control.”
June: “This kiss. It’s the hottest thing of my life. When he kissed me, I could fly.”

The fascinating Midnight Dynasty series takes a fresh and exciting turn with this page-turner (prequel) from a pair of authors already familiar in the series. This story adds another dimension to the never-ending war between the Morelli and Constantine clans. Along comes a steamy adventure of mortal danger and intrigue for a pair of sabotaged castaways on a tropical island. Oh my raging hormones. This guy… Carter Morelli (29) is the most delectable enigma of his clan. That rugged, panty-melting boy is jaded and multi-layered with a whole other level of skills. A philanthropist, professor of biology, and James Bond rolled into one. Think daring Indiana Jones by way of Sir Richard Attenborough in the wild, but otherwise a crack spy on secret, ghost missions. Rugged, virile, baffling, guarded, deep, and smexy. He’s got brains and substance. And boy, does that guy have a protective side for June and enough sexual heat to blow me sky high.

Professor Carter is tasked with flying delicate and skittish, acclaimed wildlife photographer June to a shoot in his private plane. Yes, he’s also a pilot and it should be a simple enough trip, until they crash-land on a deserted island and discover the plane was sabotaged. Let me catch my breath over the whole dynamic of their first meeting at the airport and getting to know each other on the plane. They hide so much of who they are to the world, but are alike at heart. Beguiling June is a delight as a hot but humble woman afraid of flying, and protective Carter can’t help but dote on the damsel in distress and it makes him feel off-filter when he most needs his wits. There’s a steamy liplock moment on the island that made me sweat over their mutual attraction. The pace is fast and the cliffy just ramps up the peril even further about what’s coming for them. I’m a tad alarmed that the blurb for upcoming FORCE OF NATURE involves something I typically avoid, but I’m in too deep to turn back now …

The Crash is the prequel to Force of Nature, which tells the story of Carter Morelli from the Midnight Dynasty world and his entanglement with June Porter. I have been looking forward to Carter's story ever since he was first mentioned and introduced in Tiernan Morelli's story in Dangerous Temptation. This secretive and mysterious Morelli is much more than meets the eye because he only shows the world and his family a part of himself—not who he truly is: A broken and morally gray individual who lives a secret life. I thought this was a fantastic introduction to his character and I absolutely can't wait to know more about him. June is an entirely new character but I loved how innocent and hopeful she is. Carter's attraction to June is immediate and visceral when they first meet. Although he finds her bubbly and hopeful nature irritating at first, Carter can't help but want to protect and claim her as his.

"I'm not good. I'm not safe, and I never have been. I've been poison since the day I was born."

In the end, this was a fantastic introduction to Carter Morelli and June Porter's upcoming story and I can't wait to see how everything will unfold in the main book. Both are stranded on a remote island and the only path to survival lies further in the jungle… but are they really alone? As they are being hunted by unknown forces, Carter is forced to protect June from danger—including himself. Fans of Amelia Wilde and Skye Warren will certainly not want to miss out on this new and upcoming story featuring Carter Morelli as he previously played a role in Tiernan's character development and Daphne's subsequent reunion with Emerson in her story. I am definitely intrigued by Carter's secret life and am looking forward to seeing how his relationship with June will develop even further. I recommend this book to those who like the forced proximity trope with a seemingly normal but possessive hero who lives a double life and a heroine who is the perfect match to his darkness—innocent, humble, and hopeful. Their attraction to each other is explosive with a potential to spark fires.

OH MY GAWD......talk about leaving you begging for more!!! The Crash is our introduction to the elusive Carter Morelli, the one I've been curious about and now excited to finallyyy get his story, well more like the foreplay to his story!!

June Porter is the sweet and sunny disposition photographer, the unexpected game changer for Carter and the one who will absolutely break through those carefully constructed walls he built to hide his most valuable secrets.

This story was a quick, tension filled, addicting read that has me intrigued for what's to come in the Force of Nature the next book in the Deserted Island series.

So can I get Force of Nature, like now?!

I really loved this novella. It was fast paced and has me even more intrigued with Carter and June’s story! I’m so obsessed with the Morelli family and I feel like Carter will be no different. This is a great introduction into their story and I’m seriously so excited to get my hands on Force of Nature.

Although this was just a prequel - a short snippet of Carter and June’s blooming romance - it did a great job setting readers up for what’s to come!! The tropes included in this series are: grumpy hero (LOVE THAT 💕), innocent-headstrong heroine, couple on a deserted island (I guess that’s a trope right?!). Also, Carter is a Morelli, which means he comes from a dark, violent family history, but it also means that you may have met his other siblings in other books (like Eva Morelli in One for the Money - I RECOMMEND READING THAT ONE 🔥)!! Overall, I can’t wait for more of Carter and June!

4,5 stars - English Ebook

Ouote: “Thank you,” she murmurs, pressing a generous tip into their hands. She looks them in the eye as she says it. It’s sweet. Too sweet. I find it irritating and irresistible. Irritating, because she’s not looking at me anymore. Irresistible because it’s so genuine. Someone like this needs to be protected from the world. I suppose that’s why the university asked me to escort her. I’m going to be a glorified babysitter.' -

Quote: We’re inches from death because of my job. My secret fucking mission. Almost a decade of this work. Undercover work. Spy work. Are you some kind of James Bond superhero? Yes, actually-

A prologue into a crush with the plane on an island and a crush on the photographer with killers on their tail.

It's a hot story and ends with a hudge cliffhanger!!!

This novella/prequel is a short, teaser for what’s to come in A Force of Nature - I CANT WAIT! I couldn’t stop reading, and with it being so short, I finished in record time.

It is told in Dual POV by both Cater and June. Carter, a professor, pilot, plant enthusiast is given a job to fly and escort June, a photographer, to her next job. Her first wildlife photography experience.

June’s time with Carter starts out rough when her fear of flying kicks in after not having her medicine to calm her. Carter lets June sit with him in the cockpit so she has company to calm her nerves.

The attraction, the hints of spice, the cliff hanger. Chefs kiss. I can’t wait to continue reading in a Force of Nature.

Skye Warren & Amelia Wilde have a phenomenal writing style. Amazing.

Considering that Skye Warren and Amelia Wilde are the authors of two of my favorite characters in the “Midnight Dynasty Universe” (Eva and Leo Morelli), my hype for this story was through the roof! And with good reason. With only a few pages I’m completely in love with Carter Morelli and his mysterious aura, and June Porter has my sympathy. Although both characters are very different, their attraction is palpable from the beginning. What was a trip with a purely professional and artistic purpose, turns into a dangerous adventure, with a mystery to solve and unbridled passion. “The Crash” gives us a little glimpse into what I predict will be a great story. I can't wait to read “Force of Nature”!

THIS IS HOW A PREQUEL SHOULD BE WRITTEN.

This is only seven chapters and I was INVESTED through all 7 of them, and that ending!!! OMG I definitely cannot wait for the full length book!!

Carter is not what I expected based on previous books where we get glimpses of him, he is delicious and so mysterious.

June seems ok, she kinda feels like annoying and whiny but I do hope that being in the jungle and surviving changes her attitude.
