Holy shit, I give up.
Disclaimer: I have had 2 hours of sleep in the last 30 hours, so I am not responsible for the shenanigans that I am sure are about to ensue.

Now I've been known to love me some smut with negligible plot, virtually nonexistent character building, and a grammar performance akin to that of a 2007 Britney VMA performance...
...but this really took it to a whole new level for me.
And I've read and loved some pretty heinous shit in my time.
Now, before ya'll start saying I'm being mean, let me clarify.
I don't think this book is total shit, cause it's not.
And I don't think Jenika Snow's books and/or writing is shit, because I'm not saying that either.
I'm merely saying that I just don't think Jenika Snow's brand of smut is in my smut wheelhouse.
Cause we all be fancy with our individualism like that.
*edited to add, yes this^^^ was an intentional butchering of the English language, people. Not that I don't lurve the "helpful" grammar-Nazi messages I get from people I've never heard from before telling me that my grammar is - ahem - "atrocious"...but so is some people's sense of humor, apparently*

Seriously, this woman should really watch her hydration levels because I've never read about someone leaking from their nethers with such frequency.
It's a wonder she didn't leave a snail trail everywhere she went.

Dex is having a severe case of baby fever at the ripe old age of 39. There is only one woman that this tattooed bad boy has ever wanted. He has held back though. Not wanting to upset his best friend Charlie, and thinking he wasn't good enough for the lovely Eva.
Eva has been crushing on her brother Charlie's best friend for years. He's never saw her as anything more than his best friends little sister. That's until Dex shows up at her work wanting to "catch up" Things are not always as they seem. Will sparks fly? Will babies be made?? Will this couple get a HEA??

Surprisingly, I really enjoyed this one. Lately I haven't been overly crazy about these "super short...insta everything" books. I enjoyed this one though. The writing was great. The sex was SMOKIN. Both characters were likable. I was happy Charlie didn't cause any unnecessary trouble. It even had a really sweet epilogue.
I will say that I think if these authors took some extra time to flesh out these books more, that some of them would have some really awesome books on their hands. I get that these are just meant to be quick filthy reads, but some of them really hold the potential for more. My 2 cents inanycase...

2.5 stars - This one was just ok and left me a little disappointed. For sure my least favorite in the series so far. Although I liked the writing style, the story fell a little flat for me. I didn’t really feel the connection between the leads and that prevented me to fully get into their story. Overall, I enjoyed the steamy sex scenes, the dirty talk and the whole alpha energy.

Third book I've read in this series and the reason I've practically ripped through three of them in less than two days is cause these books have been quite short.
At least, so far...
And this one, even if it received the same 2-star rating I gave the previous two, it was quite a strange little book, to be honest.
The hero apparently has something called "Baby Fever" and he has chosen his "mate," the heroine to breed with.😂😂
I was much amused while reading most of this.
Though, I have noticed that this was practically more Bam Wam Thank You, Ma'am with this one.
The relationship moved rather fast, even if it was already somehow halfway established before the book took place.
I wanted a little more development to the romance and I didn't get that at all.
But these books are like little greedy snacks you take here and there throughout the day before your big meal. So don't take them too seriously.
Because I reckon the author meant them to be that way.

Sadly I felt this book was a bust. It had so much potential but decided trying harder is never better.
Lots of things either confused me or annoyed me. Case in point:
Hero is 39 and all of a sudden has baby fever!! He wants a kid like yesterday and only his best friend's sister will do. Why did he have baby fever? Did something happen? Was it because he was almost 40?? It never gets answered so you can come up with your own theory.
Hero is a bad boy!! Again why? He said when he was younger he was in some bar brawls but that was younger. He has tattoos so I guess that's a bad boy?? He doesn't really drink and DOES NOT sleep around. Infact it's been years since his last hook up. So why the bad boy? Also, this is stupid but for me it bugged me, I had no idea what he did for a living!! Can he even afford kids?
The h was weird. And not in a good way. She's been in love with the H since her teen years. He shows up at the bar, is showing her he is interested in her, she is super excited but when he asks her out, she's like why? Why do you want to go out? What do you want to talk to me about? Let me call my brother so he can tag along. What!?
They go out, he lays it out that he wants her, has always wanted, wants her forever, carry my kid and still she asks him what do you want from me? Hello! He just said.
Finally, it took like 3 chapters to have sex, let me clarify. They make out, he gets her naked and continues to rub his cock telling her everything he's going to to her once he's inside her. For like 3 chapters. I was like omg!! Yes you're going pound her can you shut the fuck up and do it already. Omg I'd be so annoyed if my husband spent an hour just talking. I'd be out. Like nevermind homie I'll do it myself.
I did like the epilogues those were a plus and cute.

Lately, I'm getting annoyed with all the babies in these supposedly smutty books. Babies get in the way of sex when they come along and I don't like to share, which obviously you have to share the baby daddy with the actual baby (you see my issue?!)
It just didn't work for me. He pops up and wants to breed her. They haven't even had all the good dirty exciting sex you get when you're first with someone. They just go straight to knocking kids out. I know that was the point, but still, I expected something MORE.
P.S. I really do love my annoying clam jamming children, I promise.

This was a really fast hot read that included the best friend sister plot.
Now they both wanted each other for a long time but they had other partners so I can't give it 5 stars but it was a good solid 4 stars for me here.
The dirty talk was awesome and it was truly hot breeding smut here.
Now if this is done right it can be amazing... And this was done right here.
I loved that he has been celibate for a long time (we are not told how long but it sounded like years here).
I have no idea about the heroine but she simply said she has not been celibate waiting for him.
I don't really like when they do that.
It's a good book and I enjoyed it but to say it was the best would be a step too far.
I really enjoyed it.
Also, despite the fact that it was so short, it was complete with the epilogue 5 years later.
All in all it took me less than an hour to read UNINTERRUPTED!
I forgot what that was like.
Safety: its safe from drama OW/OM and they are faithful to each other after they start seeing each other.

I guess I'm still trying to figure out what triggered this midlife crisis for Dex and why he held back in order to try and believe them as a couple. Eva seems to just to along for the ride. It's definitely a quickie OTT tale with an obsessed breeder. Some hits, some misses.

The sex was pretty hot.
The H knew what he wanted.
He wasn't a manwhore while wanting the h.
As soon as he realized his feelings for her (which was years ago) he wasn't with anyone else.
I liked that her brother Charlie didn't give them trouble about being together.
The sweet epilogue.
The things I didn't like:
Too much repeating of the same lines.
The story could have been great if it was fleshed out a little more.
All in all I obviously liked way more than I didn't. I love these short reads for what they are.

Dex (39) wants babies… lots of them… and he knows just who he wants them with, Eva (28/29), his best friend’s little sister 😬. He’s been wanting her for years but never had the courage to act on his feelings. Well, time’s ticking and he’s done living away from her. So now he has to seduce her…
Eva’s always had feelings for Dex, but she wasn’t about to pine away for him knowing nothing would ever happen (but then she says she kind of was pining for him). When he shows up at her work and waits around for her, she’s questioning his motives. And then… he tells her… he wants babies and he wants them with her 😳.
The good thing is that he’s not a manhoooar; in fact, it’s been years since he’s been with anyone. He’s serious about her, even if she doesn’t believe him.
Of course, classic JS, he has a duuuurty mouth 🔥. Sure, his dirty talk revolves around babies and his… um… juice staying inside of her to do that, but I didn’t mind it 👀 keep going Dex lol. There’s one looooong 🔥💦 scene in the main part of the novel and then one in the second epilogue, and I enjoyed them 😉.
We don’t have much info on Eva’s dating/smexual history. For a while, I thought she was a v, but it’s never stated so I think she wasn’t? The book is good but book 2 is better.
The story is about Dex, 39 and Eva, 29.
Dex and Eva's older brother are best friends. They've known each other for a long time. They love each other but didn't act on it until Dex realized he's getting older and that he made a mistake for not doing anything until now. He knows she's the one for him. He wants her to be his wife and the mother of his children.
It didn't take long for Eva to give in. There's a nice epilogue. If not for the epilogue, this book will be a 3-star for me but I enjoyed it. With marriage and babies.

I dunno, as sweet as this intended to be.... Dex was a little much for me. Also I can't get on board with the ladies being "primed" for the sexy times. It just sounds wrong. And the sexy times in this were a bit... off. The only good part was the Raahoshing scene, but that should have gone for much longer cause Raahoshing is the best and needs to be in every book, ever.

The reason I love these novellas in this series is because we skip the drama, the angst, the rejection, the fights and just get to the feels, the love, the spice. Rereading this series after a long time and NOT DISAPPOINTED AT ALL!!!!! It was sexy, sweet, and quick, something my impatient heart approves of.

He has always secretly been attracted to Eva, but bieng best friends with her brother was always an issue. Now though he is not going let that stand in the way. The only thing he needs to find out is if Eva is as attracted to him as he is to her.
This was a fun quickie. Liked Dex, he is a dirty talker and doesn't relent until he gets Eva where he wants her. Wish it had been longer but for a quickie you felt like you got a full story.

This was a pretty short but smut-tastic filled read. Dex is 39 and he’s been wanting his friend Charlie’s little sister, Eva, for awhile now. She’s 29, only 10 years younger. Not a huge age gap. Dex hasn’t been with a woman in years and no mention of when Eva had last been with anyone.
So the story pretty much ramps right up to the sexytimes. And my god does Dex have a filthy mouth. The dirty talk was insane. Every other sentence he’s saying some naughty shit to her. Woooo boy. Plus a lot of the “I wanna put my baby in you, get you pregnant” type of talk. I mean that’s not really my thing but it was hot in this book. 🥵
Epilogues were cute. I guess the storyline was fine, but you’re not really picking this up for the plot if you get what I’m sayin’. 😏

5 stars for that sexy ass cover which, I admit, is why I bought this book in the first place.
BUT...
1 star off for that one drawn out sex scene in which not much really happened.
1 star off for repetitiveness, which is annoying enough in a regular length novel and just reads as uninspired and lazy in a short like this.
And 1 star off because I was just so disappointed! I love the "breeding" trope. I know a lot of people hate even the word "breeding". To each his own. Personally, I hate sexual punishment and I'm really not into MC club books, while thousands of women lap that shit up in full swoon. But...
I digress... Back to the breeding...
Like I said, I love this trope. When it's done right it can be a low down dirty smut-fest that makes my ovaries want to party like it's 1999. It was what I was expecting, what me and my dirty dancing ovaries were hoping for, but NOT what I got. What I got was a dirty talking H who spent more time telling our vapid h about all the things he was going to do to her, instead of actually DOING them to her. Dragging out the suspense, building himself up as some phenomenal lover, when his actual skills were kind of meh. I suppose it's a tactic. Get her so riled up with talk that by the time you actually do something any orgasm would be explosive.
Dirty talking is definitely half the fun, but at some point you're gonna have to

Dex and Eva. I wanted to like this and it was a cute read, but... I just hate when so many years are wasted. She's almost 30 and they've known each other since they were teens. He apologizes for wasting time, but doesn't really have a good reason. He is almost 40. That's a long time taken to get his head out of his *ss! So yeah, it just bugged me the whole story and made me question the authenticity or depth of his affections.
But anyways, the rest was all good. He sees her again, and is all of a sudden determined to get her pregnant. She (fortunately for him) is also hearing her biological clock ticking. They have always been fond of each other.... and that's really all there is to it.
Totally safe read.
