Crest of the Stars, were a great set of series. However Banner continues to disappoint.
The Abh Empire is fighting back after the events of book 5, and that is exciting to read. However, in books 1-5 there was a pretense that the books were expanding on the world introduced in Crest. In this one, there is no world building at all.
This is fine if the action happening in the book was deep and thoughtful. However, Morioka Hiroyuki does not seem to be well versed in military matters. All of the battles boil down to "The Abh Empire fleet was bigger, charged at the enemy and won." There's no deception, no strategy, and no tactics.
The book is still interesting to read and I'm glad that he is continuing on with the story of Banner, but the books are quickly becoming fluff.
