    Good Game, Dishonest Release

Control is like most Remedy Entertainment games: interesting but repetitive shooter/movement mechanics, good music, a few interesting characters dropped into a serviceable story, and quirky humor sprinkled throughout. I completed the main game and one of the two DLCs on Steam in 36 hours, doing all the side missions and getting most of the hundreds of collectibles. Pros: -No health regeneration, except at save points. Instead, the player gets small health chunks from damaging enemies. This leads to a tense but fun combat: is it better to move into the open to get health from downed enemies, or try and fight from cover with low health? -I thought the 1960's aesthetic and Brutalist architectural set-pieces were gorgeous; but your taste might differ. Exploring the Oldest House after gaining the power of flight is a great experience by itself. Cons: -Excessive grind. Loot drops to level up Jesse's powers and gun come from: main story missions, side missions, enemy wave arcade missions, jukebox expeditions, randomized emergency alert missions, board countermeasures, random encounters... -Of the six gun modes, the base pistol mode [Grip] is the most versatile. The other five options are nice to have but why bother? -I rarely used any of the psychic powers except launch and dodge. Combat is usually: 1) launch objects to destroy enemy shield, 2) shoot enemy in the face, 3) dodge incoming attacks, 4) launch objects again while gun recharges, etc. Lies: Control released on Epic Games with a one year exclusivity deal. I refuse to support Epic or their business partners so I waited. Official tweet from @ControlRemedy on 2019-03-18 said "There are no plans at this stage to release the game via @GOGcom", so I reluctantly bought it on Steam on 2020-08-27. What happens a mere two weeks after the Steam launch? For sale on GOG! I understand situations change, but I would have never purchased on Steam if there were even rumours of an upcoming GOG release.

    Sam Lake's Masterpiece

Let me clarify first that I'm a Remedy fan since Max Payne 1. I played Max Payne 1, Max Payne 2, Alan Wake, Alan Wake American Nightmare, Quantum Break and finally CONTROL. This game is the result of years of experience of the Remedy Team. The game "feels" like a Remedy game, graphically and gameplay wise (is the engine they improved more and more over the years). That's not it, the story is S P E C T A C U L A R. If you really take the time to enjoy the narration, the documents you find and the dialogs, it is full with mysteries that keep you wondering. Even if this game is full of lore, the action and the fights are one level on top of the already epic fights of Quantum Break, and that combined with the great graphics makes every fight enjoyable. Don't just take my word for it, get it and play it!

    Good Story, magnificent graphics.

I've played this game including the expansions on both PC and PS4 and I can't get enough of it. I wanted to buy it trough steam but when I saw the announcement that it was coming to GOG I was Immediately sold. This game also encouraged me to play former titles from Remedy like Alan Wake and Quantum Break which are both amazing. Now more about the game : The story can be really confusing in the beginning but later on it will be more understandable. The graphics are insane especially if you turn on RTX. I know a few people who thought the game was a little bit difficult but the new assist mode made the game playable for more people. I have experienced no gamebreaking bugs both on PC and PS4 yet. I give this game a 10/10 and is definitely in my top 10 games. Keep it up Remedy!

    It's a remedy game

I got the game on Epic when it was heavily discounted and I used a $10 coupon on top. I think I got a hell of a bargain. $40 for the game and the DLC sounds like a great deal as well. Story: My only complaint here is that a lot of it is hidden in collectables(reports, case files, etc.) I tried to keep up with those but I gave up pretty early on. Otherwise the storytelling is classic Remedy, that is to say, bonkers at times. Graphics: You can see screenshots and clips for yourself. All I want to say here is I played the game on close to max detail on an $250 AMD GPU and it looked amazing even without RTX. Gameplay: Combat was amazingly satisfying, reminded me of how I felt when I first played Max Payne back in the day. There are a few fights with really significant difficulty spike that can spoil your fun if you don't like the "git gud" attitude. Overall I don't think this is a perfect game, but for me it clicked right. Looking at all the reviews here I now realize a lot of other people didn't like it at all.

Great game, watch out for your save file

At one point the game has corrupted my save file after a crash, forutnately I was able to pull an older save from the GoG cloud because I didn't quit the game as soon as I found out that the save was corrupted and thus prevented the corrupted file from being synced to the cloud. If you don't want to rage after losing 15 hours of progress you might want to find your save files and make a copy from time to time because if a corrupted save file makes it to the cloud you are screwed. How can developers be so incompetent to fail at something so basic as save file validation in the year 2020?
