A Bridge Between the Past and the Future – 80 Years of the Archives of the Republic of Slovenia
The project includes the design of the visual identity, logo, and exhibition marking the 80th anniversary of the Archives of the Republic of Slovenia, opened in October 2025 under the title A Bridge Between the Past and the Future.
The central graphic and conceptual symbol of the project is the bridge – a metaphor for connecting time, memory, and the future. It represents the archive as a space where the past transforms into the foundation of the future, symbolizing the continuous flow of knowledge and the preservation of cultural heritage.
The design draws inspiration from archival materials – architectural plans of the Borovnica railway bridge, one of the finest examples of technical heritage in Slovenia. Its construction served as the basis for the visual concept: the bridge’s points and lines form a timeline of key moments in the archive’s history, guiding visitors through its narrative.
The logo is built around the title "A Bridge Between the Past and the Future", with the letter M stylized as a bridge – a distinctive, minimalist, and contemporary symbol that unites meaning and form.
The overall visual identity combines the refined elegance of archival space with modern graphic expression, creating a harmonious link between tradition and the future, and emphasizing the archive’s role as a bridge between the two.
