By the fifteenth month of the drought
\nthe lake no longer hid her secrets
\ndried out husks littered the silt
\ntrails leading away
\nmysteries moving into the treeline<\/p>\n

She surveyed the carnage
\nmother nature’s vicious attack
\na search and destroy on her calculated sowing
\nsmall organic treasures she had sunk
\nlike naval mines beneath the surface<\/p>\n

The drought was not predicted
\nheat waves enveloped her mission directive
\nthe aquatic spawn chose evolution
\npreferring adaptation to a foreign climate
\nover certain sunbaked death<\/p>\n

By the sixteenth month only dust remains
\nher belly hollowed, the soil devoid of promise
\nher food source now devours the people
\nthe ship outfitted for a new system
\nshe makes her hasty exit<\/p>\n<\/div>
