One of the best fantasy ever read.
I'd end here this review if I could, because anything I'd write would be superfluous: this novel is a perfect example of imaginative fiction, and the characters break into your heart to stay there until the end.
    Really, you can't miss this.

4,0 su 5 stelle Kindle edition nicely laid out too

One of Moorcock's true greats 'outside' the Elric universe. If you ever doubted this prolific author, try this or War Amongst the Angels. Kindle edition nicely laid out too.

5,0 su 5 stelle Do you the Devil's work
Recensito nel Regno Unito il 19 agosto 2015
One of my favourite books by my favourite author.
Out of the real history of the Thirty Years War, and the terrible destruction of Magdeburg, and into legend, rides Ulrich Von Bek; murderer, torturer, robber. "In short, an ordinary soldier."
How he comes into Lucifer's service, how he fares on his Great Quest, and what it means for the world is the substance of the plot.
Utterly intrinsic to the story, by no means grafted on, are satisfying philosophic musings.
It's a rare thing, a tale of the deity and existentialism, a fantasy that is almost an anti-fantasy.
I re-read it now as a prelude to a second reading of the new Moorcock, The Whispering Swarm, with which I think it has something in common.
Like much of Moorcock's fiction, I find I like Warhound more and more as time goes by.

5,0 su 5 stelle A must have for fantasy fiction fans!
Recensito negli Stati Uniti il 1 marzo 2013
Michael Moorcock absolutely nails this book. Set in the middle ages, Von Bek finds himself literally making a deal with the devil.
One of the best storylines I've ever had the pleasure of reading. Filled with action and adventure and every monster you can imagine, this is the story of a warrior seeking the opportunity to save his lost soul. The imagery is amazing in this story of the eternal battle between good and evil. Read it and ride along with Von Bek through the Mittlemarches!

I thoroughly enjoyed all of this entertaining and thought provoking book. All fans of fantasy (and students of theology?) Will find something of merit in these pages.

I read this book when I was young and I loved it. Decided to read again and was pleased to find a really cheap copy with the same cover in good condition. Thanks
