About the authors
Stephen G Parks is a multi-talented creative individual who has worked in traditional media (TV, radio, newsprint) as well as in new media development. He is a published poet, playwright, journalist, and soon, novelist. His short stories have been published by Flame Tree Press (UK), Black Hare Press (Aus), and online in SpeckLit, Tall Tale TV, and Flash-in-a-Flash.
He is a Member of the Alliance of Independent Authors (ALLi) and an Associate Member of the Science Fiction and Fantasy Writers Association (SFWA).
In the 2000s, Stephen spent five years working in Africa, where he became an experienced and grounded advocate for educational change and revitalization.
A book of his African wildlife photography is pending.
He now lives in Malaysia, where he writes speculative fiction that captures the sense of wonder of the golden age filtered through modern cultural sensibilities.
He misses giraffes.

Maria Haskins is a Swedish-Canadian writer of speculative fiction. Her work is available in the short story collections WOLVES AND GIRLS (2023) and SIX DREAMS ABOUT THE TRAIN (2021). Her short fiction has appeared in The Best Horror of the Year Volume 13, Nightmare, Lightspeed, The Deadlands, Black Static, Interzone, Beneath Ceaseless Skies, Cast of Wonders, Shimmer, Flash Fiction Online, Gamut, Capricious, Kaleidotrope, PseudoPod, and elsewhere.
Maria currently lives just outside Vancouver with a husband, two kids, several birds, a snake, and a large black dog.
Born in Greenwood, South Carolina, Will traces his love of science fiction and horror back to a childhood filled with Space: 1999 reruns, a worn-out copy of Dune, and Heavy Metal magazine. His work has appeared in Nature, Daily Science Fiction and Tales to Terrify. A good writing day often finds him at any of several favorite overlooks on the Blue Ridge Parkway deeply immersed in a new work of science fiction steeped in cosmic horror. Will currently lives with his wife and children in Virginia's Shenandoah Valley in an old farmhouse turned backwards to the road.

4.0 out of 5 stars Good. But not all alien invasion stories
Some great writing here. That said, the title isn’t quite apt. The editors’ definition of “alien invasion” is a bit loose. Some of the stories I would not have included in this category.
