I've always enjoyed Fritz Leiber ever since I read his "A Canticle for Leibowitz". This fantasy novel is well crafted with interesting plot twists and a proper modicum of humor. The stories are just long enough to be interesting without being boring.

4.0 out of 5 stars yet more (mis) adventures with Fafhrd and the Grey Mouser

...wow I just realized that I bought this a LONG time ago without reviewing it...

Well, NVM, I'm here now, so...

Ehhhh, I like this but not quite as much as I like the previous two volumes in the series. The book is really two smaller books in one collection. The first story is the longest Lankhmar adventure yet, as the antihero duo gradually uncover and then work to thwart an attempt by a family of wererats to take control of Newhon's greatest and most awful city! The second book is a series of short stories like almost all other previous Lankhmar books. The first few are about Death and a couple of other gods interfering with the lives of the heroes, but the last two are a segue into the end of Fritz Leiber's work on his creations, as F&GM, not as young as they once were, leave Lankhmar behind and travel to their final home of Rime Isle.

Fafnir and the Grey Mouser are awesome. Fritz Leiber mixes swashbuckling theivery and at times heavy erotic themes together where Robert E. Howard left off.
