My husband and I have trying to find books we enjoyed as children for our 9 year old son to read. The print in this particular book is very small, but he loved the gripping story.

Had read this years ago, and always wanted my own copy....I have all Penelope Lively's other childrens' and adults' novels and rate her very highly. In my opinion the theme matches very well with her adult novel 'Next to Nature, Art' - less serious than some of her later works, but significant concerns just the same, and typical of their time.

This was very nice clean copy, almost mint, and matched my older editions, excellent transaction.
