    I had to buy this anthology for a college class on science fiction literature. While the price is way too high, I thoroughly enjoyed reading the stories it contained. So I wasn't too bummed about paying $80 for it.

    The SFRA does a great job of collecting the best short stories from each major era of SF: pre-Campbellian, post-WW2, and new wave. Lots of big names are included: H.G. Wells, Isaac Asmimov (including arguably his best and most memorable story, Nightfall), Phillip K. Dick, Octavia Butler, Joanna Russ, and Arthur C. Clarke.

    In fact, I had so much fun reading this that I read every last story from front to back, even though my professor only assigned us about three-quarters of the anthology. If you're taking a college class and the syllabus requires it, you don't have much of a choice here. But if you're interested in studying science fiction for its own sake, and you can somehow find this for cheap, I highly recommend it.
